My dad died in April :(

I always remember him being smartly dressed when I was a kid, wearing nice suits for work and stuff. I think it came from being in the air force when he was younger. Looking back at photos from the 60 he kind of looks like a young Sean Connery.

It was funny looking through his stuff and finding pieces like Barbour coats and bombers that he had for decades but have come back in vogue in recent times.

Pic is a couple of his watches that I'm going to keep.

My dad is not a man.
I hate the way I feel about him, but when I break it down I pity him, not respect him. I know how miserable it sounds, and I'm 24 years old but the truth isn't easy to admit.
He never should have had me, and I was an accident. The pregnancy was the reason he proposed to my mom, and they were in their 30s at the time.

He lived with his mom until he got married, and has simply coasted through life at his wife's (my mom) emotional whims. He can't think for himself, he can't even make a decision. He watches Lifetime and Hallmark for hours at a time, and gets bitched out about everything by my mom. If I ask him a question, he looks over to my mom before answering. He is incapable of having a conversation with me unless it's about music from the 60s, which is why I used to be really into 60s rock.

When I was a kid I used to be so angry at my mom for constantly yelling at him and complaining to him, but as I got older I realized it's his fault for never, EVER, standing up for himself.

He has no drive, no desire, nothing, other than to do anything his wife says. I want to give him respect for having a house, and a family, but it's hard because it's ruined and trashy. Not trashy like "dad's a pleb" trashy like he's fine living like a slob, and clueless that people value nice things. He leaves the house with his fly undone at least once a week.

I moved back home a while ago to try and save some money up and I hate being reminded of who I'll be. I want to love him, I want to take him serious, but there is nothing there... I've tried.

It's sad when I look back at pics of my mom when they first met, because I realize that is the best he could do. His friends are my mom's friend's husbands, and none of them ever bring anything to the plate.

I really feel like he never should have had kids, and our entire bloodline should die out. I just have one sister, and hopefully she can resist her maternal urge to have a kid. I've thought about hanging my balls out my car window and running them over to make absolute certain i'll never have a child.
