just get a chrono or trip date if you like busy dials

I love my Mondaine. Who cares about the movement when they just tell the time the same anyway.

It's got a better history and back story than most of the gaudy, ostentatious shit posted on here.

aesthetically pleasing to say the least.

I couldn't own a quartz version though, the joting seconds hand ball would bug me, but it looks beautiful with an auto sweep

>display cases
i don't get these
they gave me the option for a display case when i bought my seagull 1963. i get that it's cool to be able to see the insides of your watch, but how many times are you really gonna do that, and couldn't you just twist the back off? the display is gonna be against your wrist anyway.

Yeah I see what you mean about the steampunk.

It looks more 'technical' on the sports version which I also think is quite nice (and normally I'm not too fond of sports watches)

I think they look cool. The insides of a watch look as good as the outside, why not be able to see it?

true, i mostly wear it while wearing long sleeves and it fits very well. also i think wearing small watches makes your wrist look like bitch wrists even more

these watches all look disgusting

talk about obnoxious gaudy shit with fucking useless pointless bridges built over the case of a watch? wtf why woudl you do that

also the burberry (made in Fossil factories) is a giant rip-off of the patek nautilus

Just got a hold of this old looking manual timex, hardly worn.

Can anyone Id/guess its value (if anything) for me?

Would really appreciate any insight.
>pic related obvs

>> No.8217936

>>8217561
It was manufactured in 1970 and the movement inside is a model 24 movement. The 4-digit code at the bottom right indicates this. Anytime you see "STAINLESS STEEL BACK", you can be fairly certain that the rest of the watch is chrome-plated base metal. "Military" dials such as yours usually fetch a little more than the more common Timex's on ebay.

i'd guess to prevent damage to the watch glass

i don't like the look either but it has function at least

>bout three fiddy

tip for next time, check if the watch has any production numbers on it. yours says "1158 2470" at the bottom, just under where it says "Great Britain"

google that and you'll find your watch

Any recommended simple watches? I like the look of pic related but apparently it's overpriced for what it's made out of.

I have a couple of cheap autos and handwinds with display backs and even them, as undecorated and underwhelming by comparison are interesting to me to look at

risking taking the back off and getting gunk/dust in there isn't worth it. im not saying they belong on all watches, divers not so much, quartz obviously
