Because heroin is really addictive. There are lots of less strong (and less addictive) opiates out there.

Very few people can control heroin use long term. Some people even manage years of occasional use but the same thing tends to happen - a major life event (e.g. divorce, death, breakdown etc) then addiction.

I used oxycodone for 3 years. Every other person I knew who tried it (I surrounded myself with people who did it by the way) was completely addicted. Plebs are just not smart enough to take what they're doing seriously.
