This thread pertains to do-it-yourself clothing only. The more original, unique ideas we can discuss, the better.

Creating your clothing from scratch, rebuilding clothing, deconstructionism, really anything that inspires you and your personal style.

I'm just going to post some neat DIY stuff I found.

Here's a pair of Edwin raw denim jeans that were buried for 6 months. Although it's unconventional, it really is interesting to see the after effect of burying brand new high quality denim.

It's all good.

Speaking of DIY denim, there's some very interesting ways to dye them, not just using RIT or coffee dye.

"A high ferrous content, from water passing over iron-rich rocks and a high tannin** content from rotten vegetation. Boggy mangrove swamp mud, paddy field mud where the water gathers in rust tinged pools. The iron and the tannin react to form a black dye. Burying your jeans in any old muddy ditch will probably just get them dirty rather than imparting any colourfast tonal changes."

Mix water with bleach, spray on clothes, you're golden. Don't use straight bleach, it's too harsh. For a darker orange/red color, use more water than bleach, and don't drench the shirt with the mix. A lot of it is experimenting to get what you want, but that's the general idea.

I have 3 pairs of nice, but unworn jeans. They're various brands that fit me well but just aren't quite as good as the few I have in rotation now that I've gotten more into fashion. I kind of want to try re-dying them. How would I go about this? Any guides or anything? Do I need to bleach them first?

Also any other ideas for old but nice jeans?

it's not a very deep dye- as in, you won't get an insane color change like you would from bleaching a black shirt but it can lead to some super cool pastels
