Hey /fa/ let's talk interesting articles of clothing. Let's talk about construction, craftsmanship, styling and/or innovative ideas. Any styles or companies, discussions welcome

I'll start: I really like the way this Paul Smith patchwork jacket looks, really any patchwork clothing. Boro (sp?) stuff is especially cool and I don't know a lot of companies doing it besides Visvim and a few other small Japanese brands something about contrasting patterns/texture really does it for me.

I know I'm personally capable of pulling something like that off without looking too odd, but it just seems so impractical. Still I dig it though, I think I like when designers go bold, that would have looked nicer if it wasn't cuffed at two different lengths and too high to boot.

Always down for interesting garment talk. I can't remember where I originally found the pictures, but I vaguely remember someone saying something about how they were one of the first shoes ever to come from MMM.

Pretty interesting looking, not exactly pretty, but still very much embodies Margiela's design qualities in it's own deconstructed way.

Impractical in what way? Because it doesn't serve a purpose or because it would be a hassle? Either way, it's a totally aesthetic oriented piece from what I can tell. Those butt flaps look pretty interesting in some fits though, I really like the extended look it can give to otherwise short/average length garments in a whole fit.

Boro is actually the name given to that patchwork fabric that comes from, bascially grafts of whatever fabric where on hand in order to maintain the life of the garment, that's a noragi
Here's a beautiful boro Yogi that's undergone quite extensive repairs. A Yogi is a duvet jacket, similar to a Noragi, but intended as a duvet, it's often oversized and quite often lined with any available materials, worn to bed to protect from the cold

haute couture is traditionally related to extreme amounts of detail and artisanal craftsmanship by ateliers who specialize in certain details for decades

you need to learn what haute couture is / means

i-i know that this is mostly a menswear board but then i really like the dresses in Opening Ceremony's new korea-inspired collection. although it's a spin on generic stuff, the tailoring looks so sleek and it makes me want to wear the hell out of it. the patterns and colors are also nice as heck

Can't really point to one piece. But anything by Stephan Schneider is great. I especially love the fabrics he uses. It's always some sort of crazy blend. And they're generally so fucking plush or just plain comfortable, but always interesting.
