So I've been on no-poo for I think eight or nine months, mostly because my hair just looks poofy and dull when I wash it.
Hair looks decent, no acne issues or anything, but it hasn't helped with dandruff/dry scalp. Any solutions for this? I've heard coconut oil might do the trick.

Daily, comb it a lot. I thought about getting a boar brush but that seems to be for people with longer hair.

I wet it every other day when I shower, generally spend a minute scrubbing the scalp with water.

Pat it dry with a towel, blowdry with cold air to take half the moisture out and then I let it air dry for the rest. Which seems to take at least a few hours.

The two times I've washed it, I just mixed a tbsp of baking powder in a mug with water and scrubbed it through my hair then followed it up with the same amount of acv. My goal is to get to the point where I wash it once a month or water only.

You can brush through cornflour to take out grease to prolong the need to wash it properly.

I just leave it for the off days.
If I only put a bit of pomade in then it sort of just wears out over the course of the day and it isn't an issue over night, then I'll just put some more in the next day. If I put a fir bit in then I just my hair out with water for about 15 seconds and that does the job.

I've never used baking soda, oil, etc, though I seem to have good hair genetics. Other people might need to use products.

I have been on finasteride for two months, for the hairline. Never bothered to check the vertex.

Really, it took me some time to come to terms with the receding hairline. What do if you have very thick, heavy, mostly straight (a little wavy if it grows out) hair?

I always wished that I had lighter, messier hair, but it is what it is.

I'm growing it out because I don't know what the hell to do with it, and it is currently approaching shoulder length in the back and chin length everywhere else.

I travelled for a year and just went cold turkey (I didn't even know about this no-poo poo-poo). It took about 3 months for it to level out. After that I used murray's for a while until I realised I didn't really need it anymore because my no-poo hair started behaving properly.

Also to the guy in the picture, if you want your hair to swoop back like that grow a fringe that goes down to about your nose then go to a barber and ask him to cut the fringe so that it's longer on the part side and shorter where you want it to swoop back. When you have a shower in the morning, just comb it directly back, when it dries out it will sit in the position that you want.

I'm now at the point where I wanted to take better care of my hair and shit.

The difficult part is that since I'm black, many hair products aren't good for our type of hair.

So I'm going though the sticky and google and seeing Sulfate=BAD and all that jazz. Now I'm getting to the point of finding the appropriate shampoo+conditioners to use for my hair.

I looked through the stick and the sites and even though most of the shampoos+conditioners and stuuf lack the sulfate and whatever, they still lack the essential things black hair needs like oils and shit, besides Jessicurl but that's like fuck expensive and shit and want to see if there is an alternative to it.

My scalp gets these itchy spots or bumps they hurt hell if scratch them. Only soaking my head on water seems to help. Shampoo doesn't help much but neither does no poo. Any suggestions?

Do you wet your hair daily without washing frequently? Could be fungal related (due to moisture retention in your hair (esp if you have thick hair). I used to get that until I stopped getting it wet unless washing with products.

My hair is similar to yours, I tried no-poo and it just ruined my hair more. It dried it out and just make it not manageable. Not sure if my no-poo routine was being done incorrectly but I would not recommend it.

What I started doing was only using conditioner since the curly/wavy hair needs conditioner to be smooth. My hair started transforming into a smoother, curlier hair that opened more options for hairstyles.

my hair has this texture, I'm not sure whether you'd call it a HY but I just let it grow on top and ask for a grade 1 round the back and sides. I then just blow dry it back/to the side and put pomade in it and it looks ok.

Thing is though it looks alright for a few hours then starts to get fuzzy/frizzy and shit, idk. I want to grow it out more or maybe put it into a top knot but I'm kind of thinking if i tie it back then all the split ends/fuzzy bits are going to make it look messy as fuck
