one thing to avoid for sure: wear white leather sneakers with raw jeans. All that unremovable indigo bleed will ruin the shoe.
And yes, I did cuff the pants.

As for color combos, have a look at this lookbook thingy and find out for yourself what looks terrible and what does not. (not specific for CP)

Depends how wide your feet are. I have kind of wide feet and if I size down they're too tight on me since they're quite a narrow shoe. I'm normally an UK 8 and I wear a 42 in the mids and they fit ever so slightly loose but nicer than 41s.

I also tried lows on in store and it was the same, the 41s were annoyingly tight and the 42s were slightly loose but could be solved by just lacing them tighter.

And while the last one maybe isn't a fashun capital, I've not seen CP's enough on the street to ever think they are over done. If anything, there are more patent leather cap toe Lanvin kicks out there.

Hell, I've see more Rick Owens on the street then I have CP.

>>8054585
They aren't any better in terms of quality, build, or any of that shit. Just think about it like this though, if you want CPs but are being cheap, then you should really just not be cheap and buy CPs.

Essentially, if you want CPs, get them. Don't buy something LIKE them, because they will never be CPs or give you dat satisfaction.

Just copped CPs, white lows and this was my first day wearing them. Wore them with some no show socks, they are slightly tight on the toes and only a little discomfort on the heel. I am hoping they will stretch and mold to my foot just a little. I got a size 41, I wear a size 8 in cdb, (but 8.5 would be comfier because slightly wide feet). A 42 would have had more room but since I plan to wear them sockless, a 41 is ok and isn't too long.

My girl said they actually look really good in person, she usually doesn't compliment me either. They aren't too common irl, only seen sales associates with them. Plus I am ok that people can recognize them because they are only the people who are into the same thing.

I think this assessment is pretty off with the whole Stan Smith vs Achilles thing. Sure they both fill fundamentally the same role but the Achilles has a much sleeker look that the Stan Smith simply lacks.

Also I disagree with his complaint that CPs now stand out. Sure, some people will recognise them but from a purely aesthetic point of view they're still very low key and minimal.

iktf about the CPs bru, luckily I copped some mids of ebay, they gooood.

I was talking to an SA in Selfridges today and he said that he and others have been pushing to get them stocked. He also said that someone came in there saying that somewhere in the Northern Quarter does them in a few models but if that's the case I've not found it.

idk dude u might even be able to get it off w/ a seam ripper if it's just stitched straight onto the leather

w/e u do gl i've always thought cps were a bump for ppl that just don't know any better so i'm glad 2 see less extortionate alternatives

Saw a dude on campus wearing white Achilles Lows today. Now I've been on the CP hype train ever since I heard about them, and have been saving up for a pair of my own, but after seeing them in person I'm not so sure. I mean they look better than my all-white Stan Smiths, yeah, but not $300 better. Convince me I'm wrong.

>>8072369
Buy them and they will convince you themselves, from that moment on you will hopefully understand what it is to spend some $ on something that fits well, is very comfortable, and in a long run, worth it.

What is the grill's equivalent to CP achilles? Whats the smallest size they come in?

>> No.8075167

How much (in estimation) does the width of CP's go down when the size decreased by one?

I bought a pair of derbies and there's around two inches of room from my big toe to the tip of the toe box, but I'm worried the shoe will be too narrow if I size down.

I have the opportunity to buy some new black CP lows for £160 ($265), is that a good deal?

Im asking because this board and the internet in general has fucked my sense of value and worth when it comes to shit like this.

if you are buying them because /fa/ told you to then DNC

if you are buying them because you actually like them then cop...but this is obviously not the case because you have to ask if getting shoes over 40% lower than retail is a good deal....

but if you want the cps then get the cps, don't get the kent wangs or stan smiths hoping that purchase will be just as satisfying

mfw i copped black low's but my insoles (i have flat feet and have specific soles for my feet) are too WIDE for cp's.
the soles are at an angle since theyre too big and knee pain = unbearable

= wasted my money, no idea how to 'slim' my insoles

The larger the size the wider the shoes get. So if the perfect toe length is too slim, give yourself some room upfront so you can actually be comfortable.

what shoe trees do you use for your achilles lows?

all the ones i have are too fat at the ends

>> No.8081197

Question for you dudes. Do most of you just buy one pair of Commons (usually achilles) and then leave it at that?
I just grabbed my second pair after having achilles lows since last August, and I'm feeling like I might just stick to CPs for my shoes, they make most anything I'd want to wear.

the size down thing is a troll to get you to fuck up and buy the wrong size. That's why it's size DOWN and not up, so you can't wear them. Google how CPs fit and everyone will say true to size.

I know this is only tangentially related, but can anyone recommend some thin and cheapish ankle socks that I can buy a lot of in one package?

I don't want to go sockless in Florida.

>> No.8081414

>>8081402
define cheap. Even shit tier malls carry ankle socks, but those won't stay on your heel very well. Cheapest no show socks with rubber inlays at the heel I've bought are Falkes on sale - 5 Eur a pair. Also tried some jcrew ones for 15 Eur a pair, not much better imo.

My biggest issue with no show socks are that they don't cover enough of my arch, so part of the shoe tongue still touches my skin, which can get nasty when it's a leather shoe during summer.

Hope that helps

Not that guy, but my left Common projects creases perfectly on my left shoe (as shown by red) but my right shoe is a rather ugly crease in two spots closer to all over the place 9as shown by black). I always figured it was because on foot was slightly larger/smaller to the other, but not really sure. Mine are black, so it's not that noticeable I guess.
>>8081402
Don't wear ankle socks with lows. Buy some no shows. Calvin Klein makes some I know, where I got mine.

you have cp's which you can pull off with dressier occa / dress down

and stan smiths where youd only wear with joggers and jeans at most/

coppable tho

Sizing advice you've received is on point, but you sure as hell won't want to go sockless or wear thin socks your first few times wearing them. They will KILL the back of your ankles for the first week plus of wearing them. I'm still trying to break in my achilles. I have thin babby skin though so perhaps you'll fare better.
