It was NYC. We talked about how purple is the favourite colour of, I think it's the head designer at Nepenthes, and the designer in charge of needles did a whole collection in purple because he knew that.

He didn't give me a number just that he'd give me a discount, but I was already past my budget so I didn't even consider it. The rebuild stuff is so cool, each one is unique.

Let's see, I scored a pair of nepco raw denim jeans. The leather patch on the back is stitched with purple thread and made of horse hide, feels like cordovan but can't be sure. A navy ripstop bedford jacket, the matching ripstop trousers, a grey chambray patchwork button up shirt, a light blue button down collar, a rough and tumble blue patchwork button up, and pic related cardigan.

I really wanted to get the boots they get from Mainland NZ shoe makers too, but for similar reasons to parka I didn't. When I walked in and saw them, I thought they were Visvim patricians, beautiful in all respects.

I guess it is kind of cool, had no idea he has his own label and worked with Ervell. I'm kind of impressed now that I could keep up with him discussing designers, our conversation about Hender Scheme and Rakuten lead to Trove, which he also was unaware of. Or maybe I just sounded like an idiot and he took it easy on me.

Basically he spotted my henders and was the first one to recognize them since I got them, so I gushed about them, blah blah blah, told him I got em on Rakuten cause Haven Shop and others are price gouging the shit out of them. He asked what Rakuten was, I explained about the structure of the site and about the better pricing on a lot of Japanese brands (the fact that I was in Nepenthes talking to a Nepenthes employee about getting better prices on Japanese brands was not lost on me).

He seemed genuinely happy to learn about a place to get good deals on stuff, but made comments about what I said about Haven's cost with import duty fees as a retailer and that their inflated price point might not be entirely unjustified, which I thought might be an asscover for prices on the shelves at Nepenthes, but most of the stuff there is made in NYC so that doesn't make sense.
