Solid, bold tattoos stay precise the longest, make sure the design has black for the outlines, portrait and watercolor-like tattoos tend to blend into mush. Try to stick with black and grey on areas that will be exposed a lot, many color pigment noticeably change color in the sun. I might get some kind of tiger crawling up my upper left arm from my outer bicep to my upper shoulder. Maybe like a half sleeve. Go into any specialty coffee shop near you and you'll find guys who are unscrupulous about fades, beards, and sleeves, girls who are shameless about stretched ears, weird postmodern tattoos, bullrings, etc. It's hip, but I would warn you that the tattoo will be with you for the rest of your life.
