They're not Tricker's anymore. They're Sanders now. The only reason to buy Thom Longwings now is for brand-whoring (the RWB ribbon). It's marked up an absurd amount from regular Sanders at retail. Alden is superior quality. A better option would be to get custom trickers done from theshoehealer if you want that chunky style. It'll still be cheaper and you'll get exactly what you want with better quality

I've never paid more than 300 for yuketen, usually closer to 250 or sometimes 200. so they end up being cheaper than competitors like Oak Street Bootmakers, though Quoddy often goes cheaper. I have a hard time finding quoddy on sale in my size though for some reason

and then there's the fact that Yuketen does a wide range of stuff from different manufacturers. my suede boots from them are made in Mexico by Pistolero, my black cap toe brogue boots are made in Canada by Dayton, the maine guide boots are made by Yuketen, the mismatch chukkas are made by god knows whom but they are a lot like the chukkas Quoddy makes. so although they are all the same brand, they're all different styles and different manufacturers, so it doesn't feel like buying one brand over and over

the other thing is yuki matsuda has pretty good design instincts, and he releases a large and varied collection every season. so there's usually something good. and he rarely does the same thing twice, so every season you feel like if you miss something, the opportunity won't come back
