Anyone have any /fa/ related storeclerk stories? Whether its you as the customer with a shitty storeclerk or as the storeclerk with shitty customers?

I used to work at an engraving kiosk in the mall and every now and again I'd just have the most ridiculous, fedoracore interactions with people. This one time, this kid came to the store and tried to return this ugly pocket watch. The little guy must have been thirteen, and he was working really hard to be well spoken. He told me that the watch "just broke," but I could tell from the wear on the pin mechanism that connects the pieces that it had been banged out of place.

"Looks like it's pretty banged up," I try to say politely. Then, his mom (who I could smell booze on) comes over and yells at me for accusing her son of lying. Of course I know he fucking dropped it and dicked around with it, who buys a thirteen year old a fucking high end pocket watch. After politely explaining to both of them the nature of the damage to the watch and how I wasn't retarded, I decided to just process the return and not kill myself trying to deal with determined assholes.

I know you wanted horror stories, but the clerks at Nag People in Copenhagen fuckin rocked. They were /fa/ as fuck, cool, friendly, genuinely interested in my story (being Danes this is not the norm), and dressed well. I enjoyed just hanging out at the store, not even buying anything because they were interesting and knew a lot. They would hook me up with discounts too. One dude was working on starting his own clothing line, similar to rick/CCP/BBS. His designs were great and the stuff he had made was really unique and were great cuts. 10/10 wish I was still in Copenhagen to shop again.

It's a chain kiosk. I don't wanna specify a state or city or anything because anonymity.

The thing that absolutely pissed me off the most was huge families that would come and say to me: "we need this engraved for a communion" or "we need a baptism gift." When I'd ask when the event was they'd tell me they were on their way there and they needed it done.

It was brutal because on busy days we would always have an engraving queue of at least 5 or 5 items for hours at a time usually. This one time, a mother was super bitchy about me trying to help me pick a safe font that would look good an engraveable plaque. So when I went to find the item, I told her we didn't have any in the kiosk and that I'd have to go down to the storeroom to find one. I went down there and sat in the storage room, played Pokemon on my Blackberry for 15 minutes and then came back and told her the computer messed up on the amount in stock.

Why did you choose such a labor intensive kiosk job? There are other kiosks at the mall that just sell simpler items and you just have to work the register...I guess you like a little adventure

It was my first weekly paycheck job. I basically walked around the mall one day, handed out my resume to anywhere that wasn't terribad and waited. They called me back that afternoon.

not sure about men hitting on men.. but i always go and get jeans from the levi's store on regent street because the girls are ridiculously helpful and honest as well as super-flirty/friendly.. as in, moreso than any other store i've been to
>read: everyone's pretentious as fuck and not down to earth in the more expensive places i shop, or is a complete braindead fuckwit at the cheaper places i pick up basics

i don't even care that they probably do it for the "and was anybody particularly helpful today?" namedrop i get asked to do at the till, it's always nice to have some somebody go above the call of duty for you, regardless of motivation.

that sounds like i'm a horrible shut-in, but it's more that i'm in the weird position of being a single-guy who isn't interested in sex or relationships right now (last year of uni, looking at going solo-travelling , so it's more the complete neutrality and lack of expectation from a friendly encounter where i'm made to feel good that gets me off..

props to the guys uni-qlo on regent street too. only place i'll go for plain-tees if i have the choice.

>try on a couple other pairs in a couple other sizes
>tell the guy the fit isn't right
>he suggests i try a couple other shops nearby
>i joke about running off to his competitors after spending so long trying shit on
>tells me "us more muscular guys have trouble here"
>tells me he only wears AS jeans at work
>"they're so uncomfortable i change into them when i get here and take them off before i leave"
>turns out i go to his girlfriend's gym
anyway
if they're decent people in a bigger chain store they won't care. they're getting paid no matter what.
in smaller boutique thingies they probably know and care.
good people are good people are good people

Something about the concept of a saleperson being fake friendly af just so their boss can ask if anyone was extra friendly today disgusts me.

i look at it this way
these people are probably making not much over minimum wage (UK £6.33 an hour iirc) and are going out of their way to make my day go smoothly and put a smile on my face when they'd probably rather be the person on the other side of the till. if they do that, then i'd say they're doing their job well and should get some recognition because that kind of customer service is pretty rare in busier highs-street shops. they could probably go work at H&M and shrug at me while dribbling when I ask where their not-shit clothes are (which is, ironically, the right answer) and make the same amount of money.
