Do these glasses look good on the goose? I thought there isn't meant to be that much lens space under the eye. Anyone have glasses they really like or do you all wear contacts?

>> No.7795415

I wear glasses but I don't know the brand.

Many brands will do this sort of thing now. Probably Persol. Warby Parker work as a cheaper version.

I wear dita. Dita is lovingly handcrafted by pure japanese maidens. You'll pay out the ass for it though. Still the best glasses I've owned. Second would be Larke for opticals. Most of the time i just pop in contacts, especially when I wear sunglasses it's just a lot more practical.

Gosling wears Warby Parkers, the frames in my OP are called Prestons. I'm considering buying them because I have a similar face shape to Gosling (they'll let you try on five frames for $1).

Trying them on is really important, it turned out that my least favorite frames were actually the ones that looked the best on my face.

That's why I'm excited about Warby Parker's "free" try test runs. Anyone own glasses made by them?

Seconding this. I don't have actual Dita-branded frames, but Thom Browne branded frames made by Dita. Even more expensive than standard Dita, I think, but damn are they nice. With prescription lenses I think they ran like $1100.

But my daily wear is Oliver Peoples O'Malley like pic related. Honestly I think they're on a whole different level than Warby Parkers; people love to hype up Parkers like they're the greatest thing since sliced bread, but even just spending an extra $150-200 on frames is a completely different ball game, even if the more expensive frames are still just acetate.

Unless you're collecting frames out the ass, why would you skimp on them? Besides your fucking face and your hair, they're the only thing you'll wear absolutely every single day.

It's a foolish notion to cheap out on frames if you are among the crowd that routinely wears high end designer, yet you see people in 2k$ fits wearing bloody ray ban frames.

I can understand that, but ONLY if you want a very specific look for the day, like a pair of clubmasters. But as a daily wear? Nah. Like you said, it looks dumb and incongruent, because of how basic the frames are.

You're looking pretty good. Did the glasses fit perfectly right out of the box?

>>7795859
>>7795876
I'll keep that in mind, I've never owned a high end pair of glasses before. I wasn't planning on spending more than $200 for my next pair, but I'll check out some more expensive frames.

I just ordered five pairs to try on, hope they aren't beat up.

I have a similar pair I had made from Hugo Bosses (in kind of outrageous florescent tortoise shell) that I made into eye glasses and I love wearing them with white shirts.

Lately I've been wearing hand me down OP Rileys from my bro

what Warby does is really cool but imo the quality of the make renders them a little knock-off-y, costume-y? their brand culture by definition emulates the classics and high margin stuff so that could be a factor as well, as far as I'm concerned they're the UO of eyewear.

my friend's family owned a kickass eyewear shop and I remember his dad explaining things like acetates, the tumbling process and polishing that went into a high end pair of specs. You get what you pay for, and I pay out the ass for my glasses because they're part of my face.

when I inspect my OP Rileys, I see that signature engraved geometry on the inner arms, the softness of the frame against the skin, the tiny carved golden inlays and exquisite, nebulous tortoise shell. a work of art truly.

so /fa/ whats a decent midrange level of glasses above parkers but less than $1k by a decent margin
