I don't really know, but I think its going to be a bitch because of the size of the arm hole (?) and the size of the hole on the other piece, then connecting it will either cause 2 things
1. the torso piece is too big, causing you to alter the center piece to the other size
2. the arm piece is too small, too big, altering that will leave some weird things, you'll have to alter the whole arm I would assume.
ask a tailor to this, unless you have the cash to spare and time.

Hmm I think I'll paint them separately or I'll clear the grommets in the event that they get gunked up. I'm worried about the shoelaces not fitting back through after they have paint on them, due to the fact that acrylic paint globs up on top.

I assume it's best to do one color, then let it dry, then do the next color, so on and so forth? Is there any order to do the colors in?

Scab them up with varying thickness and textured materials, making sure to use large guage cotton thread.

If you're happy after the upper's surface is entirely scabbed, then there were are, wear them out. If you're unhappy after that point, then paint the entire upper one color. A base layer of white fabric paint and then a later of gesso would be my suggestion. Use a latex based paint instead of the fabric paint for a more waterproof option. I also suggest using only the gesso on the soles, for effect.

Different guy here. Could I use some of that himmyjimmy gesso gunk on a pair of converse after painting them white to be like the MMM x Chuck Taylor collabs?

>> No.7580689

>>7580366
They'd be similar, but the effect won't be the exact same, and quality will generally be poorer. The Converse x MMM shoes are only gesso over the canvas, and the shoe itself is more carefully constructed as well as leather lined (as opposed to unlined.)

If you're going to do that, I would choose a fabric paint for your base layer, or even leave them unpainted if they're not completely unbearable as is.

>> No.7580702

>>7580689
On that note, due to being unlined, it's very likely your version would flake a lot faster. If you got to the point in which you wouldn't want them to flake anymore, you could seal them with clear varnish, assuming you don't care too much about the breathability.

Alternatively, you could always just add another coast of gesso at that point.

Thoughts? I painted a pair of black combat boots with gesso so that they would chip and look like the MMM x Converse collab, but I'm not sure if I like the look anymore.

Should I paint them solid white? And what kind of paint would I have to use to paint them?

I'm making shorts very similar to Rick Owens' "pod shorts"
100% silk, four front pockets, one back pocket, drawstring, elastic waist.
Just making them to chill around the house in.
Coming along nicely.

at work today i was talking to a customer who found docs at savers that were once boots, but cut down to make them an oxford..

i quite liked them, but if i fuck it up i'd be out a pair of docs, do you think its a worthy project?

I think it's more than two dimensions since the cut's probably asymmetrical
think J cut tees and jeans that encourage draping with asymmetry

Made this a while ago. Leather jacket with leather studs and a leather and jersey dress underneath.
The leather jacket was pretty easy to make. The leather studs on the other hand were pretty tricky.
A friend was modeling for the photoshoot.

Picture related.

>what would it look like dyed left to right instead of top to bottom
a lot of the appeal with dip dye is that it enables colors to distort proportions
ever heard of light colors making things look big and dark things making them looks small?

A white to black top to bottom gradient on black jeans would draw a more attention to the white top half and contribute to the appearance of a masculine V taper

anyway horizontal color blocking can look nice but it can also be really jarring especially if it's centered

proportioning the dyes along the lines of pic related would probably look nice

screenprint yourself.
get a screen for printing. draw a stencil. Cut the picture out out of paper (it's not as durable as plastic sheet) or a plastic sheet. attach it to the screen, add paint, print it on fabric
