hey /fa/ is there like a "wardrobe essentials" chart?

I lost a lot of weight and I have to redo my wardrobe, from underwear to dress shirts.

Most importantly, I'm going on a spring-break like thing next week. Beaches, clubbing and all that jazz, so keep that in mind for any suggestions.

Hey OP, we were all clueless at one point or another.

Some tips: buy your shorts shorter than you're probably used to: above the knee. The more confident / fit you are, the shorter you can go. But all your shorts (athletic and swim trunks included) should fall above the knee.

Buy some staples: oxford b/d, dark slim jeans, nice white v-necks for undershirts. Trainers as mentioned above (New Balance is generally /fa/ approved), maybe some nice oxford shoes as well. Invest in a jacket.

Underwear: I like boxers, it's all personal preference. You definitely should invest in some nice underwear though, girls don't want to see tacky Joe Boxer shit. Black is obviously pretty safe.

Now that you've lose weight, don't be afraid to show off your new body. Slimmer fits (not skintight) will help accentuate your new silhouette. No one will know you're in shape if you hide behind clothing two sizes too big.

Also, don't forget accessories count. You can ruin a really nice outfit with a shitty backpack, watch, etc.

GL OP.

Hmm, let me throw some suggestions out there, others can alter or what-not:

>T-Shirts:

Margiela Crewneck T-shirts (they're not see through unlike 99% luxury brands)
James Perse Standard T-shirts for darker colors

>Pants:

Saint Laurent slim-fit for blue jeans
ACNE Max for black jeans (Ace if super skinny legs)
ACNE Max for chinos (Ace if super skinny legs)
ACNE Drifters for suit trousers

IMO the fit on ACNE pants is the best I've experienced.

>Sweatshirt:

Our Legacy, Norse Projects, Reigning Champ, APC. All worth a look for decent priced sweatshirts. Colors black, grey, beige and navy. If you want to spend more money there's always higher end brands like Givenchy, SLP etc.

>Shirts:

Check Patrik Ervell, Brooks Brothers, Gitman Vintage. Again, get the basic colors first, white, pale blue.

...

By the way, in your second pic, the tee looks very similar to James Perse.

Why would you cheap out on any of the foundations of your wardrobe. Every outfit you wear is most likely going to include at least some of these items.

Also they are actually great t-shirts. Jil Sanders are okay too, but I think Margiela are the best. They feel like literal velvet to the touch and the coloring is very vivid. The white is not at all see-through. I think they do also produce thin see-through t-shirts but most of them are the thick velvetty ones which I really like.

My boyfriend is pretty frugal on underpinnings and I can see the point. Gonna trash it, wash it a lot, etc. That said, nothing from Fruit of the Loom, Hanes, etc. are really that great of a fit. If it's just an undershirt where the looser fit won't matter tucked into your waistband, then I understand, but I agree with the other anon. If you're wearing it as a basic, it makes sense to be super picky and get exactly what you want because it's going to be the starting point for a lot of looks.

Forgot to mention, get everything slim fit and pro-tip approaching:

Whenever you want to cop something through the web, find the item (or similar item from the same designer) on MrPorter.com and click Size Guide for the ACTUAL measurements of the garment. That way you can find the perfect fit and also find which brands make clothes for your body composition.

If you're in store, get both one size below and one size above the one you think you are, just to test.

For sweatshirts I always size down because I prefer to wear them alone or layered over a simple t-shirt (I have an ACNE one that's slightly long so it creates a cool white trim under the sweatshirt).

>> No.7499189

>>7499125
I think the only reason people fail when starting out is because they cop cheap shit that looks and fits crap.

Also you need to handle and get used to luxury stuff before your tastes develop.

I never used to be able to tell the difference in quality by looking at things (or even feeling them) but now I am used to high end stuff, when I see something cheap I can tell it's poorer quality than I'm used to.

To a complete pleb everything Ralph Lauren is going to look great and their baggy as fuck jeans are going to seem like a perfect fit. You need to experience good fitting jeans, only then when you go back to your old baggy ones can you actually tell just how poorly they fit and notice the yards of extra material.

Okay fuccbois, OP here.

I re-read the thread, and came to a few conclusions.

This is what I cop'd so far. Remember, I can return all of it.

>Levi's 514
>Levi's slim fit shirt (vertical stripes, can't find the model)
>Levi's swiming shorts
>Levi's shorts
>Morris & Becker (???) tshirt in red
>Morris & Becker (???) blank tshirt in gray
>Morris & Becker (???) white shirt
>Morris & Becker (???) brown shorts

I'm returning the red shirt, and brown shorts, and maybe the white shirt. Getting another blank shirt, lighter shorts, and light blue shirt.

The Levi's pink shorts DO look fratboy as fuck, but hell, it's spring break, just a piece to fit in.

Anything else I should return? What else should I buy?

I'm thinking I need one more pair of jeans, a low cut v-neck in gray, henley shirt, another dress shirt (long sleeved), a white short sleeved shirt, plus underwear, accesories and shoes.

I know I must sound like a retard to most of you, but it's my first time trying to buy clothes that look good. I don't intend to be effay in 24hrs or less, but I'd like to try and get close to looking half decent.

Thanks, and sorry.

son ya look pretty good, coming from /fit/izen. just get some basics tho:
- oxfords (blue/white)
- crew neck t shirts (white first, then variations based on skin/hair color)
- dark indigo jeans (yes spend money on a nicer mid price pair (Naked & Famous, etc), dont just go out for levis unless you absolute have to)
- black as black jeans
- better socks (something people forget about)
- shoes

shoes is difficult, id say go with a nice brown boot like wolverine 1k or red wings iron rangers. however people will say thats mfa as fuck. but in truth its a good starting point, the chunky boots an be incorporated into many different fits (like those with big parkas people around here like) or layers.

and you also want some beaters or sneakers that can go with your darker fits or casual wear

OP you're making a mistake that a lot of noobs make. You think you are being fashionable by buying what you perceive to be fashionable pieces. What you SHOULD be doing is buying simple clean pieces and LEARNING HOW TO DRESS FASHIONABLY. Someone who knows how to use colour, transitions, accents and who knows how to create both slim fits and chunky fits is going to blow you out of the water. This is what you should be focusing on, not copping specific pieces. You're like the new guy in the gym who sees all the machines and thinks that's how you get jacked, meanwhile the guy with the barbell and power rack is a million years ahead.

I guess it's not that bad as a starting point either.
