I have never worn a watch before but I've been thinking about picking a few up and trying it out, compliment some outfits and just to have a watch.

But the weekender will look good to most people who don't know about watches.

The Submariner and SKX look different if you look at the obvious details like the hands, bezel, and bracelet. But if you want to lump all dive watches as Submariner homages, then that's fine with me.

You also seem to be upset about people wearing watches. If you don't like them, fine. More power to you, m8. But if you are saying that "almost nobody" wears watches, you are absolutely wrong. Watches are one of the most common accessories out there, and you can see them on men and women. If you are saying that almost nobody wears them, then I wonder if you ever go outside.

And yes, most electronic devices tell the time right down to the millisecond. We get it. Thank you, Mr. Utilitarian.

Hey, congrats on the flag watch. I really like it.

Since both watches have white background, a chestnut brown watch strap will match. In leather, of course. A quick search pulls this up:

You can find this for cheaper. Hadley Roma makes good aftermarket straps. If you want a NATO go to Crown & Buckle. For your watches, though, I highly recommend a leather strap in brown.

Hey, I'm the guy that recommended a brown leather band.

First of all, what is the lug width? 18mm? Check it out first.

Second of all, get something simple. The case style for those watches are simple. Get something simple in turn. Personally, I would stay away from most pebbled leather bands. But that's just a matter of taste.

Here's a Speidel, another good aftermarket brand. This one's in 18mm and pebbled, see if you like it:

This one's in the padded style:

See how simple these are? You're overthinking things, man. Just calm the fuck down.

How easy are the straps to change? If it's really easy I could probably get away with just getting one, right?

They are a bitch to change if you don't have a spring bar tool. I changed mine last night without. Fingers hurt afterward, took a lot of time.

That's why you spend $1 on a springbar tool on ebay. It takes less than a minute to swap out a strap with the right tools.

Here's some story on this watch, and I'd like some opinions

It's my grandfather's, but it was a gift from an EXTREMELY rich friend of his that lives in Thailand (probably one of the 20 richest men in the country). The man only had 2000 of these watches produced by Seiko and then paid them to never produce it again, and he gave out the watches to his friends and sold some to collectors.

I really have no idea how to appraise this watch. The back says "Seiko No 1885/2000" and something like "Premier edition." Thoughts?

Kind of ugly to be honest. The dial does not match the case at all, sort of like a very old diver watch case but with some grocery store alarm clock stuffed in. I'm sure it has some value though so you should hold on to it, maybe take it to a knowledgeable watchmaker who might know more and service it for you.

Looks like some ugly steampunk shit, but if the story is true that is cool. 2000 doesn't sound that limited comparatively, however.

Simple watch, everyday wear.

I want the Longines L4.512.4.11.6 for formal wear, since it's also very simplistic and elegant. I find a lot of watches to be too bulky. It's not something I can afford now though.
