Their material is definetly second rate, so much so that despite how they like to flaunt their "Japanese" materials, they cant even name drop which mill they get produced from.

N&F and Acne are relatively similar in terms of build and denim quality.

I don't think you should get caught up where they're made, seeing that APCs are made on China and LVCs are made in Turkey - hell, Nudie are made in Italy and they're frequently cited to be the least quality out of all of them.

With Acne, you're paying a premium for the fit and the interesting washes, and for some people (like me) the premium is worth it since I've never particularly liked N&F fits.
