Question for DIYers

I'm lazily taking in a pair of chinos that have a good fit in the top block but are loose from the top of the leg down. Would it be better to take all the extra fabric in at the inseam, all at the outseam, or half at each part? why would it fit weird? it only does when you dont sew straight which maybe is a little tricky at first seeing as you'll want a taper
-turn inside out
-look how the existing stiching is
-measure how tight you want the leg opening/use needles to fix it and try it on
-sew over needles, try to get a smoot line
-try on, if bad sew over it again or remove stitches, if good cut fabric off and sew over edge to stop fraying

my mum taught me this and ive done several pants since. i always shortened them as well so that would take care of the edge of the opening and seam

okay so this is not a professional guide, just some easy steps for easy altering
ill just explain shortening + tapering together, i trust you guys arent complete retards and will be able to do one seperately
you need a sewing maching, yarn, scissors, needles, iron, measuring tape

-put pants on, figure out how short you want them, mark with needles or chalk
-cut off about 3cm's below your marking
-put them on again and figure out how much tighter you want them (remember to get your foot out)
-turn them inside out and mark where the new seam is supposed to run along -taper should start at the knee or even higher to make it nice and gradually and end at the leg opening
-you can just use needles and poke them through both layers to hold it in place
-sew along the line, a basic - - - - - - stitch is fine
-remove needles then try them on
-it might not be perfect but you can just try again, either sew over the other seam or remove it and start new
-you will see if its a nice taper or has an edge somewhere or is too curvy
-if youre happy cut the excess fabric off
-sew zigzag vvvvvvvvv over the edge to stop it from fraying
-now fold the bottom bit once about half the length to your actual length then fold again
-iron the cuffs to make them stay in place and then sew along the top (just like it looks now). because of the double fold it will look nice and tidy even when cuffed
-done!

here this picture might illustrate the steps or maybe confuse you

Just made this a short sleeved shirt, added extra slits at the back (because of a rip) and added the floral bits yesterday. Pic with the new board + shoes (with white laces) :)

I like the idea man, and I'm definitely jealous that you make your own clothes...but I'm not feeling the floral. looks pretty cheap

yes, i melted beeswax with boiled linseed oil, it bleeds on everything if you don't post-treat it.

>>7405074
depends on where the ease needs to be taken in m8, i'd really need to see them in person to give a good assessment.

>>7411442
bad technique tbh, unless you just want pants skinnier and don't particularly care about the quality of the fit.

>>7412218
use your iron to press the raw hem up once until it's firmly creased, then over again until it's firmly creased, sew in the round.

>>7414554
i thought it was more complex when i first saw it, but it's really straightforward, it's just a massive tshirt and the weight and body of the fabric is what carries the design.
easiest way to do it would be to slash up a similar pattern and cop some dense double knit. i was going to do something more complex with a similar feel but didn't have time before the semester closed out. anyway, there's a really cool vogue vintage pattern for a coat that could be modified for this, idr the name or code but i can go find it mebe

They're really sick. Love the blue around the sole fading to the white. Keep up the good work

The lows are white on black and I'm gonna do a pair for my brother the same so I'll see how they end up cracking and post some pics. x

I'm not really sure what you want to replicate with this, but CCP drips have an entire leather upper (including the extra tongue flap) and use a plasti-dip for the drips. You could but leather white converses or a similar leather sneaker and use the plasti-dip solution suggested in the previous comments above to get the drips on the sole and the rubber/plastic exterior, or alternatively you could use a full acrylic paint or another shiny paint on regular canvas converses like in >>7406017 and do the drips on that. :^) Hope it helps
