I've been lurking here for about a week and I've gathered that you all dress ugly and pretentious. For example, look at this:

This is a fashion show from this 'Rick Owens' guy you like so much. These people look silly. If I saw them on the street, I might not comment, but I'd probably have a good chuckle at them.

And honestly, your 'WAYWT' threads have much worse than this.

I don't know why this board is so full of ugly urban trash, but I'd like to fix that.

Here, I'm gonna share with you a few examples of how I think men should dress:

I'd like to turn to the president. He's a total dipshit, but honestly, he's pretty 'cool', and knows his bit about clothes. I like how the muted blacks of his suit give contrast to the piece his wife has on, and how the maroon of his scarf compliments his skin tone.

Speaking of which, I love how he wears it crossed under the suit, rather than wrapped around his neck over the jacket. I've copped this look a few times and got compliments every time.

Here's another man who's clothes I'm fond of: Nikolas Lloyd.

He's mostly known as a historian and weapons-expert, and keeps this real cool youtube account, "Lindybeige", where he makes videos about - well - ancient things.

But he dresses marvolously: simple woolen sweaters and dress-shirts with up-turned collars (see picture). He knows the value of simplicity, knows he doesn't need to wear fancy shit to look nice. Moreover, he taught me that you can wear your collar popped and not look like a douche.

muscle-shirt, Levi's, windbreaker or leather jacket. Dean might not have invented this look, but he turned it into an American icon. It might seem overplayed nowadays, but it's really the standard when it comes to nice-looking causal.

Kanye West. Again, don't like him, but he knows how to dress.

I'm not sure what I like about this look, I think it's the mishmash of dressy and casual he's got going on here. The dress shirt and bowtie say "I care", but the leather, jeans, and fact that the bowtie is untied say "I don't". That's always the line you want to straddle: the objective of fasion is to look good without looking like you're trying to look good.

Now, I'd like to turn to hairstyles.

HY is hyped-up, fad-tier garbage. It looks good on some faces and wasn't always shit, but fashion is about sending a message through how you present yourself. When you walk around with a HY, you associate yourself with other people who wear their hair like that. Do you really want people to think of you like that?

Here are a few alternatives as seen on a few of my favourite performers:

First up, we've got Christopher Eccleston. Buzz-cut. Classic. Utilitarian. It tells people you don't mess around, makes you seem much more masculine. It's also got the added bonus of having to pay less attention to your hair.

Next, we've got something a little similiar: Louis CK. He's balding, but he totally rocks it. He styles it right, puts on this air of maturity, and totally pulls it off. I suggest anyone balding here copy his example; you don't have to fear going bald, so long as you take the baldness gracefully.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, you've got the Mitch Hedberg. It tells people he doesn't care, and that he's more laid back. So long as you keep it not-greasy, It shouts to the world, "I'm modern, adventurous, and enjoy the wild side of life."

Finally, if none of these work for you, might I suggest the Don-Draper. Basically, the classic barbershop cut, it works at least okay on almost everyone.

Most things I see on here are ugly either for the fact that they're tacky or that they're not simple enough. Usually it's the latter.

This, for example, is too complicated:
>>7396432

Why the fuck do you need a fancy design like that? Why couldn't it have just been a plain, greenish-brown jacket? What purpose does the fancy pattern serve?

Then, there are things like this:
>>7384066

This is both tacky and way too colorful. Seriously, athletic shoes? It just seems out of place to wear them as daily shoes. I'd suggest this man wear a pair of plain-black leather zip-up boots.

Do you have a problem with people communicating to other people that they like being showy? You're skirting around the real reason why you hate these pieces of clothing. Whut?

So a HY is bad because it's a popular hairstyle but then you go on and post 4 common hairstyles. Isn't that contradicting yourself? I mean i see hundreds of people on my daily commute rocking a buzzcut. So by your logic:

>Buzzcut is hyped-up, fad-tier garbage. It looks good on some faces and wasn't always shit, but fashion is about sending a message through how you present yourself. When you walk around with a buzzcut, you associate yourself with other people who wear their hair like that. Do you really want people to think of you like that?
