You're better off with short. Long just emphasizes your thin hair. You need to start checking out the hairstylists in your area that specialize in men's hairstyles. Don't be afraid to try a vintage/retro haircut. You're VERY lucky to have an oval head, it's so symmetrical and lends itself to many different styles. I bet you have a babyface and if you have a long nose you're in good shape.

It's natural for hair to thin out for most people. I remember freaking out when I found my first gray hair, it was fucking traumatic until I made peace with it and planned ahead about how I will transition my hair as it gets more and more gray.. Turns out my family grays early but doesn't bald until late in age, does it mean I won't? no but if I do start to thin or lose my hair it's not like I'm the first, I won't be the last, and the people who have gone through it before me have left me with plenty of options of how to deal.

I have a black friend who uses toppik to thicken up the look of her hairline and edges. It works but the fibers attach to any hair including any peach fuzz on your face so you have to be precise. I think ebay sells samples if you want to try it out for yourself. I snagged this photo from a review so you can see if it's something you want to try.
