For instance in my last restaurant job, the line cooks had everything prepped an ready to go and the dishes took less than six minutes to prepare, the menu probably had at most 25 items

Of those a few we're appetizers which I prepared from scratch
During lunch and dinner rush I served all the customers ( I never have any bad customer experiences)
During the slow hours I cleaned the front of the house from top to bottom
Anyway I forgot why I was arguing about

I was working as a cashier and an extremely poor immigrant family with a mentally retarded son came in and started shopping.

When they came up to pay, the woman began to look her purse for the money, clearly having difficulties finding $30 to pay for what they bought.
I noticed she had an envelope in one hand and saw her look into it and count $30.
I assume that she wasn't supposed to use the money on this so she sat it on the counter and kept looking through her purse.

She finally found the $30 with an assortment of bills, debit and lots of change.
She payed me and the family left.

I knew i was on camera so i just slid it straight into my pocket and on break i opened it.

I asked my manager "theoretically" what would happen if someone left behind money.

My shift ended and they never came back for it.

When I was 18 and working overnights in fast food, I memorized the costs of single items, combos, commonly ordered items. This way, I would know how much the total was without having to punch in the order. I would usually just tell the order to the cook and say I accidentally cleared it from the screen. The customer would 'pay', I would pocket the cash. I usually waited for larger orders ($15-$30). Did it once every night in a 5-day shift, so I would clear at least $120. No evidence.
I feel like shit about it now.
