You can now dress in only four designers or less for the rest of your life.

Money is irrelevant and all your cops will be paid for without you spending a dime. Underwear is included, you don't need to pick a designer for that.

What do you pick... And why?

Undercover - for the attitude, the engagement with culture and politics, and for the tech touches
Margiela - elegant and strange, down to earth but cult, intelligent
Prada - first fashion love, and the modern, sleek attitude of the brand and the way Miuccia uses color are still essential
Acronym - Because those jackets. The brand's aesthetic overall is a little more paramilitary than I'd like, but a piece or two leavened by the other stuff can easily add to the vibe I want and there's nothing like them.

If I could only dress in one collection for the rest of my life, it'd be Undercover's A/W '09 "Earmuff Maniac," easily.

It is a super tough question and a lot of people are missing the point picking the wrong designers, who might be doing some cool stuff now but for example dont have many collections, picking someone like Yohji or Rick who have been on the game for a long time would be the wise thing to do but they dont really suit my style, maybe some of Yohjis stuff but would still prefer to wear more basic stuff.

I would probably pick someone like Barret, Ervell, Sander, KVA or Lanvin for now and i would like to wear some of dem sick Van Noten prints when older.

The designer or the line? Since he's left, everything has been made in China and mass-produced. Colours and shapes haven't changed much, but it was sold to Theory, I think things went downhill. I have a bit of Helmut Lang's newer stuff, and it's good for the price. The pieces can soft, the shapes move well, the pallette is consistent, but if money isn't an object, there are much more dynamic lines available. Quality of newer Helmut Lang pieces varies greatly between the pieces too. You kind of have to see everything in person before you commit to buying. Unless you're only wearing vintage Helmut Lang (which is frankly, dated and can be challenging), you're just wearing a minimal basics line.

You are SO fucking embarrassing. The only reason you even know that there's a difference between what Helmut Lang is putting out now and what the label was putting out in the early 2000s is because a 4chan user told you so. Now you're trying to act like some kind of expert, but it's still hilarious because you obviously don't even understand the first thing about the label.

Link Theory Holdings, Inc.-owned Helmut Lang is fucking gutter trash. It is a plague. I have never used the phrase "fashion crime," but if I did, I'd say that putting that shit on your body is the equivalent of a fashion rape.
>Colours and shapes haven't changed much
What the fuck? What the actual FUCK? Are you really that fucking ignorant that you can't understand that the foundation of the entire label has changed? Do you even understand that Helmut Lang (the visionary designer who made the label famous in the first place through the strength of his own designs) no longer has anything to do with the company and in fact all the clothes put out are "designed" by a group of market researchers? All they do is look at what designers like Rick and Alexander Wang are putting out and reproduce their collections from a season piece-by-piece. It's terrifying me that you would say that the colors and shapes are anywhere similar. It's scaring me to death that people like you exist and are consuming clothes.
>which is dated and can be challenging to pull off
ARE YOU ON FUCKING CRACK? "OG" Helmut Lang is DESIGNED to be appropriate for all situations. He's one of the easiest designers in the world to pull off and his clothes remain relevant even in 2013 because he was so ahead of his time. His clothes are relaxed and easy-to-wear, but the patterns are not dated. They are of impeccable quality.

I really just...you're bringing tears to my eyes. I hate this fucking cruel planet.

>> No.7278064

none of the three is a 10/10 in quality.
apc designs are often great, but most of their clothes fit really boxy. guess thats alright for short people who dont want slim fitted clothes, but for me it just doesnt work. acne, a wang, jil sander, dior homme and saint laurent are comparably minimal in their designs and they all (acne excluded) are way superior in terms of quality.
hope makes nice stuff, so does evrell. but both are far from being minimalist, their quality doesnt compare to high end brands and i dont really know what you mean by timeless either.

It would've been nice if OP had set it up that way, but I don't think it would've sped me up much, or at all. I just CTRL-F'd each new designer as they showed up scrolling down the thread, checked each one to eliminate discussion, checked common alternative references (e.g. both "Browne" and "Thom," "Hedi," "Slimane," "SLP"), and counted as I went down.

Took ~45 minutes, most of which was dealing with nonstandard inputs that would've been necessary to do even with a Google form. Stuff like "japanese heart with two eyes" would have to be manually caught and added to CDG no matter what you do.
