It is a super tough question and a lot of people are missing the point picking the wrong designers, who might be doing some cool stuff now but for example dont have many collections, picking someone like Yohji or Rick who have been on the game for a long time would be the wise thing to do but they dont really suit my style, maybe some of Yohjis stuff but would still prefer to wear more basic stuff.

I would probably pick someone like Barret, Ervell, Sander, KVA or Lanvin for now and i would like to wear some of dem sick Van Noten prints when older.

I have a bit of Helmut Lang's newer stuff, and it's good for the price. The pieces can soft, the shapes move well, the pallette is consistent, but if money isn't an object, there are much more dynamic lines available. Quality of newer Helmut Lang pieces varies greatly between the pieces too. You kind of have to see everything in person before you commit to buying. apc designs are often great, but most of their clothes fit really boxy. guess thats alright for short people who dont want slim fitted clothes, but for me it just doesnt work. acne, a wang, jil sander, dior homme and saint laurent are comparably minimal in their designs and they all (acne excluded) are way superior in terms of quality.
hope makes nice stuff, so does evrell. but both are far from being minimalist, their quality doesnt compare to high end brands and i dont really know what you mean by timeless either.
now dont get me wrong, i like these brands a lot, especially hope, i just dont see why anyone would put them on a list like this

It would've been nice if OP had set it up that way, but I don't think it would've sped me up much, or at all. I just CTRL-F'd each new designer as they showed up scrolling down the thread, checked each one to eliminate discussion, checked common alternative references (e.g. both "Browne" and "Thom," "Hedi," "Slimane," "SLP"), and counted as I went down.

Took ~45 minutes, most of which was dealing with nonstandard inputs that would've been necessary to do even with a Google form. Stuff like "japanese heart with two eyes" would have to be manually caught and added to CDG no matter what you do.
