Ok, so I want to start no poo because my hair always gets so damn oily so damn quickly.
How do i start? Do i just continue showering daily but only condition without using shampoo?

>> No.7265244

Don't condition
Wash hair thoroughly, water should not be too hot
By thoroughly I mean 4+ min scrubbing hair/scalp (only use water)
Baking soda & vinegar combo could be used if needed

>> No.7265251

>>7265244
to add:
-cold water is always better if you can handle it
-conditioning is ok just do it sparingly (I use it 1-2 times/week)

>> No.7265273

-only use cold water
-if it gets too shitty use baking soda and apple cider vinegar but try to use it as little as possible
Thats all there is.

>> No.7265290

Kind of just started to notice how nice 3day nopoo hair feel, kind of oily and a bit heavy but in a good way. However I'll think i'll get dandruff if I keep going more than 5-6 days. Thinking about copping kerastase instead of cheap stuff i'm using that cleans the hair well but leaves it dry, fluffy and sort of thin overall.

Sebum is the oil, the same shit that gives you oily skin. Too much of it and its unhygienic, and you'll get acne. A lot of people have over active sebaceous glands, and secrete too much sebum. It's not good for hygiene. "No poo" is a troll.

Shampoo merely lifts away dirt and excess oil. It doesn't dry anything out unless you buy the wrong product.

Conditioner restructures the cuticle and cortex and cleanses properly.

Condition every other day. Shampoo every day for a healthy, clean head of hair.

If you want to feel the benefits of no 'poo without being disgusting, using coconut oil on your hair twice a week.

Not everyone has their hair combed back. All I really meant by it is that is the oils from your hair would get on your hair in various ways, like from your pillow, or if you have a long fringe etc. This would give you pretty bad acne especially if you already have a problem with the glands being overactive. If they aren't for you, by all means continue no poo if it helps. No poo for most people doesn't work very well.
While bacteria is one of the main causes, the oil is the other leading cause

no shampoo 6 months
the woman that cuts my hair is a family friend and is not afraid to be honest. the first time i went in (6 weeks no poo) she said it felt kind of dirty. the next time i went in (12 weeks) she said it was better, and then the next time i went in she called all of the other stylists over to show them

at 12 weeks she was still trying to get me to go back to shampoo but after that she was convinced. even when i ask her if my hair feels dirty she always tells me not at all

you do have to wash your pillowcases more, which seems like pretty reasonable common sense to me. the only time my acne got bad was when i went two weeks without washing pillowcases (usually do them once a week with my whites now) and i also slacked on washing my face before bed, along with using no benzoyl peroxide (usually used once a day).. if you stop being hygenic you will get acne but except for that short period my face is as clear as ever

also pimples behind your ears? are you a fucking mutant? i got some hairline pimples and that was it, nobody even noticed them

Hi /fa/
i've been doing no-poo for about a year now (not completely, i shampoo once every two months or so). I used to wash my hair every other day and it would get really dry and frizzy. when i started doing no-poo my hair had thick curls, it felt and looked luscious, now it's gone back to being dry again and i haven't washed it in three months.
How do i make my hair more oily again?
