Manhattan

Its okay. But I honestly people dress like shiy wherever they are. I've lived in Portland, Seattle, and LA but whenever someone says a city is a haven for fashion I call bullshit. People just don't really care, and that's fine.

well yeah, i get that. I just mean that not everyone puts as much time and effort into it. A lot of people here dress "well." I wouldn't say a ton of people are into any boundary pushing looks or whatever but that's fine. Its just the way it is. A small subset of people are going to really enjoy high fashion as a niche and that's cool too. But you'll find that theme throughout most endeavors be they fashion, food, art, etc.

There's a lot more. Toronto has a few subcultures but they get swept under the carpet depending on what part of the city you're in. If you never leave campus, you'll only see one kind of style, but Toronto is more than a college town. Upscale shopping is marketed at older adults (who can afford it), so the only people you really see in designer brands are Yorkville women draped in Altuzarra and Missoni knits. Most people who shop upscale, interestingly enough, prefer to do it in person. Many of them shop in New York though, since there's more variety and a $200 Porter flight is worth that. They're like the cold weather version of Miami's Cavalli-clad cougars. Their hair is always done well. Their lips are filled in perfectly. They go out for lunch every day. But they don't really seem to have jobs. Not all of the subcultures dress well.

In the east and west ends, there are different types of hipsters. On the west, you'd find foodies and vintage shoppers. On the east, environmentalists and artists. Of course if you go too far in either direction, you're just in the suburbs. There's a lot in Toronto, but you have to widen your scope a bit.

Also, there is some weird trend amongst the youth to wear shitty Marshalls-tier ties with short sleeve shitty Marshalls-tier button downs. It is disgusting, but is seems to be contained amongst the loser-looking kids. We have some good outlets nearby with a Brooks Brothers, RL, and a couple other stores so its not super horrible.

Have only seen 1 person dressed very unique and nice, 2 (probably) best dressed people in this city are both my friends who I very much look up to

I dress like shit so I can't really say anything

Overall there is no real relevant fashion here, only good store is Haven (AMAZING stock, no idea what they're doing in Vancouver). Doesn't really bother me because I don't identify myself as having any real personal connections to this city, but it would be really nice having more girls or guys to talk to about actual fashion.

As other people have mentioned, Calgary kinda sucks.

Most of the times it's people pretending they're cowboys (don't even get me started on Stampede, although I do make a fuckton of money around then) or dressing like they're still working on the rigs.

The university is shit, all there are are people wearing fucking sweatpants and/or uggs. Only the asian girls seem to give a fuck on these campuses.

Luckily, the nightlife is starting to move a little bit beyond the country bar/top 40 crowd, and there are some opportunities to go out to places that encourage you to dress a little nicer.

Columbus, OH
OSU campus area, people generally know how to dress. Most common men's fits in order
>fraternity fag - chubbies, pastels, button downs, puffy vests, Sperry's, wayfarers with froggies, polos, etc
>autism core - i see a lot of this since I am in engineering. Poor fitting #menswear generally, with a few truly euphoric fits.
>autistic fratcore - blend the top two. generally nerdy frats or nerdy guys that made it into frats that are wearing the uniform, but wearing it poorly
>MFAcore - decent /fa/ fits that can really only be faulted for being boring
>bicycle hipster core - don't run into these guys so much anymore.. Columbus fixie scene is pretty played out on campus now that all of the plebs bought $199 singlespeeds. Generally pretty good tech inspired fits, there's a guy on campus that rides for jimmy johns and pulls it off well
>babbys first streetwear - shitty streetwear type stuff from the urban outfitters across the street from campus
and of course
>/fa/ Asians
You occasionally see a decent streetwear fit

Females
>sorority slut - sorority lettered top (windbreaker, fishtail, rugby shirt, l/s tee), tights, tall brown boots, polo hats, puffy vests, workout shoes (some nice, most neon garbage)
>I don't give a fuck I'm here to study these books core
>tumblrcore - green jacket and docs type shit, you already know this one
>sorority tumblrcore - a blend of the two, sorority girls with an identity crisis that try to slightly not look like sorority whores by blending in tumblrshit

There ya go
