Should you wash jeans?

I bought some Levi's two weeks ago, and haven't washed them. I'm so used to washing clothing every week that its starting to worry me, since I've worn them 3-4 times a week due to the weather.

Is it gross/unclean to not wash the jeans? I've heard that you shouldn't, but I don't really understand why.

Turn inside out, wash, then toss them in the dryer for a few minutes?

>> No.7262137

bump because im gonna wash my clothes before it gets too late

>> No.7262149

Never washed my raws and don't plan on washing the cheap Levi's I got the other day.

Just wait until all your clothes can fit in one wash and all come out dry and you won't wash your jeans again

>> No.7262162

i've never washed a pair of jeans i've ever owned. from my nudies to my levis. unless you get a major spill on them, don't wash them. they won't smell.

If you're worried about smell you can always put baby powder on before putting them on or spraying them with a little bit of cologne I guess

>> No.7262212

The rule for not washing jeans only applies to raw denim and higher quality jeans. If they are just regular Levi's from a department store than there's nothing wrong with washing them.

How can it be your first pair of jeans?

Then it's going to smell like shit + whatever you're trying to use to mask the scent

>> No.7262229

just don't be a fat slob and sweat all over them. Air them out after every wear and they should be fine.

I've never washed my nf's or jeans really. As long as you don't
>poop in them
>sweat a flood in them
>work that requires getting stuff on you
You should be fine, but if they are starting to smell put them in plastic bags and freeze them overnight. It should kill the bacteria that makes it smell.

The desert gets cold at night, especially in the winter.

Below freezing is pretty common.

Something doesn't add up.

>> No.7262307

Well I've decided to just not wash them for now, but if they start getting raunchy I'll toss em in on cold, and air dry.

I can vouch for that.

semirelated question, my nfs got a bunch of mud caked on them when i was drunk, how to get it off without a full-blown wash? just dab at it with water?

>> No.7262323

>>7262311
but also if you're in phx area you are gonna have some serious swamp crotch in jeans so i would wash thm if they are levi's

>> No.7262332

the no wash thing is mostly for raws, but you still don't want to overwash your jeans. every few weeks is probably good. idk, base it off how they smell and feel.

air them out after every wear and they'll last longer

I lived there 8 years. Morning frost is common and most of the year hovers around 70-80 with cold nights, much lower if it rains. I never felt a need to wear shorts there. I just wore thinner materials in summer.

Pic related. Ice in the desert.

Generally speaking, even with lower-quality jeans. You are removing dye from it

You may or may not want to remove dye and fade the jeans harshly

Phoenix is just an urban heat island. The rest of the state is chilly as fuck, though most people don't really give a fuck about leaving the city. The Sonoran desert gets a ton of rain for a desert.

>> No.7262469

But wouldn't I be able to just re-dye the jeans then?
I only wear black jeans.

>> No.7262477

>>7262302
It inevitably will cause some of the dye to wash out, which usually means they will look blotchy and cheap forever after.

I really don't get why everyone is so uneasy about not washing certain items. Like, underwear are an obvious must wash and t-shirts because of pits/deodorant residue. . . But there's really no reason to aid the deterioration of any other clothing items by unnecessary washing. I never wash any of my jackets or pants (excluding ones reserved for working in--manual labor job). Shit doesn't smell bad unless you/your surroundings naturally smell like shit. . . in which case you should be fixing the root of the stank instead of just washing it out every week.

why the fuck would you want to create all that inconvenience when it could be avoided by just doing nothing to the jeans to begin with?

Keep in mind your jeans will only ever be as clean as you are, so as long as you're washing your balls and not exercising in them you'll be fine
