how do people deal with coarse hair? mine never dries nice

How do I know what haircut to get? I don't know what would look good on me. I feel like if I printed out something I liked and gave it to a stylist they wouldn't be able to do it or it would look retarded on me.

i wash my hair with water every day and use shampoo/ conditioner every week. It usually looks best 3 days after i used product in my hair, right after shampooing my hair its kinda uncontrollable/ fluffy.

I've been doing rare poo, shampooing every 1-2 weeks, and today I tried washing my hair with conditioner (no silicone, mostly 'natural' ingredients) but without shampoo and it feels glorious. Made it feel cleaner but without drying it out.

I have curly/fluffy hair as well, the biggest difference is what you do with it when you get out of the shower in the morning.
this is the routine I've found works best after a lot of experimentation:
>shampoo/condition every 3 days at night
>use good shampoo/conditioners (I like baxters' stuff)
>morning shower, run a little bit of water through your hair, not enough to wet it fully though
>get out of shower, run cream or water based pomade through hair while still kinda damp
>brush/comb it in general style you want it, don't be fussy
>don't touch for 20 mins while it dries
>run hands through hair before you leave house to achieve desired effect

this is the only way I've found that takes less than an hour and actually gets enough product evenly distributed through my hair.

Not useful if you're not going for a messy look though

So isn't it true that if you don't shampoo your hair, the pores in your scalp will get clogged so your hair won't grow? My mother is a hairstylist and that's what she said. Could be momscience though.

just think of all the dirty hobos who used to be clean-shaven wall street men and then after a year on the streets they look like sasquatch.

sure, they're not using any product in their hair but all the dead skin particles, dirt, naturals oils, and et cetera probably clogs the pores just as much.

sans things like gels and pomades, probably. i don't use them but i'd guess they'd need to be washed out the next day
