Hi /fa/. I've never been on this board but I have a question. How do fashion-conscious people feel about wearing tech clothes on a normal basis?

I've started wearing pic related with a white tee now that it's getting colder out. It feels normal to me, but today my friend told me I look retarded.

We can't say anything without a picture of what you were wearing, but it's possible your friend was just sort of being unconsciously anal about you wearing an insulated jacket with a short sleeve shirt.

A sizable faction on /fa/ is all into technical clothing - there's a "techwear" thread up right now. Lurk and enjoy!

Ninja is all black techwear? Or what?

Techwear is blowing my mind. I didn't know this was a thing. What are the reasons for it?

Techninja is more futuristic and aggressive, whereas regular techwear doesn't look terribly interesting to the untrained eye.

It's actually a big thing, this thread is all you'll need:

"Ninja" is a derivative term from "gothninja," which is a softly perjorative and sometimes reclaimed Internet word for certain currents in avant-garde fashion involving lots of layered, drapey (hard to explain, think loose but following the lines of the body), monochromatic black/grey/white fabrics.

There's overlap, but stuff like Acronym (>>7112935 seen here, on its designer, Errolson Hugh) that's supposedly the "techninja" stuff doesn't really have much in common with "gothninja." It's people not looking very closely at not-tight black clothing and deciding it's the same thing.

Errolson's thing is basically rooted in updating and urbanizing military and extreme/outdoor sport vibes, while, say, Rick Owens (the biggest "gothninja" name) is all about this decadent affectation of grunge (putting it poorly, someone post that interview from the book I can't find). He draws on sportswear, but it's more like basketball.

Best illustration of Owens is actually already posted at >>7111995.

My Ranger Hoodie from TAD gear is flawless.
Tech stuff is cool. It's just expensive as all fuck.
