brand new to this board, forgive me if I’m saying what y’all already know. some conclusions i’ve come to regarding (my) style:

(1) the least important part of an outfit is the shirt. the illest shirt out there won’t fix your look if the cut of your pants are off and your shoes are goofy.
(2) the most important aspect of the cut of your pants is how the cuff hits your shoes. that 1-2 inches where they meet can make or break your look. i go with a thicker fabric pant (never that thin, ultra-stiff denim) in 1 size too long for my legs. fold the front of them cuffs up ONCE. leave the back of the cuff completely unfolded. might require you to wear your shoes a bit loose so your pants don’t fall completely over the top of them. which brings me to shoes…
(3) general rule: canvas sneaks or leather boots only (note: not talking about suitwear here). very few exceptions to this. i’ll see a dude every once in a while pull off some nikes or something like that, but it’s rare.
(3) i’ve been thinking recently that hi-tops are the only sneaks that should be worn in cold weather. I’ll throw on some low tops when it’s warm because i can fold the cuff of my pants high above my ankle and go without socks. but it’s too cold in the winter to wear your cuffs high and you should NEVER wear your pants completely descended over the top of your shoes.
(4) i like to go with a slim cut from the waist down and a baggier cut from the waist up. going with a slim cut on both the bottom and the top is a no go in my book. looks too hipster and, consequently, immature. wearing a baggier shirt up top gives a high-fashion look while buying back some masculinity points w/ the ladies after they see your slim pants.
(5) lately, i’ve been wearing my button-ups completely buttoned up – including the top button. again, has a high-fashion look, with a cholo/gangster feel to it too (+1 masculinity). catch some shit for it from my buddies but fuck em, it looks good.
