Shoe general

Post shoe related things
Everything about shoes goes in here
>should I cop these shoes
>w2c these specific shoes
>are these shoes /fa/
>w2c a shoe like _
etc

I'm seeing lots of tiny threads, with limited responses, about shoes

I think having lots of tiny little threads each dedicated to a very specific topic is bad because the threads leave the front page and then 404 quite fast

Just bought these Loake Churchills. I like them from every angle, except this one. The toe looks way to narrow for my liking - I was expecting something rounder.

Is it just me, or does it make my shoe look like I kick shit for fun?

Any suggestions for a quality shoe with a rounder toe?

I see a lot of debate for monochrome white and black, but I personally like these the most, I think they mix the best of both black and white into one. I'm having a hard time trying to find a shoe I can wear casually to work, that can wear as an alternative to my boots. I generally wear chinos, and every shoe I find is suede, which I feel won't work in the winter. Suggestions? Bonus points if it's from NB because I get 50% off.

yeah.
that's not really all that much money. You want high quality sneakers, you're generally talking >$300 brand new. I.E. Lanvin, CPs, Acne, Saint Laurent, etc.
I was referring to the construction, which is likely acceptable. For the lower price you sacrifice the quality of the materials used to create the product as well as the quality of the craftsmanship that goes into creating the product

how "quality" can the material really be? I don't doubt CPs might be made with better material but not enough to justify that crazy gap in price. It's mostly outrageous markup from having a hype brand.

That being said, I think I agree that the Adidas in particular looked pretty cheap.

idk perhaps i just dont subscribe to this paranoia of random peoples perception because i knocked my head when i was younger...?

but tbh if you arent comfortable with your own justifications and intentions (especially with something as personal as dressing/composing yourself) and need to seek haven in others peoples ideals then perhaps take a moment to reflect and put your wallet down.

>> No.7040949

>>7040918
Maybe some people actually appreciate having a second opinion? A lot of people, myself included, don't NEED another perspective, but it helps to see what others think. Whether they know you or not, whether they know if it will fit your style, your personality, your body type. Isn't it better to get the opinions of anons who you "relate" with? Granted, I don't know any of these people. But the time I've spent on this board has shown me that these anons have similar tastes to mine. Their faceless opinion does matter, while maybe not enough to be the deciding factor, but it does have some effect on me.

My perspective is absolutely good enough, but shit I won't like when I say if I'm having second guesses about a cop, and I get 3 people saying DON'T, 1 of which actually gives an explanation as to why not, it will push me towards a no. Plus, sometimes we don't know the quality of a product and if a few people tell me it is shit, then I will be moved to rethink the purchase, and research the product more.

if you dont need it then why?
how can a stranger know yourself better than you know yourself? their incomplete knowledge can only confound your complete.
give yourself more credit, i think everyone has a unique angle and no one completely sympathises with anothers perception, especially something so intricate.

i dont care but i dont think it's a good idea to let random opinions which are probably not meaningful or accurate dictate your life otherwise your end up second guessing everything and kind of rely on it...idk you're saying one thing and then contradicting it...
if you don't need it then why?...you're no better with it given the circumstance, if anything it seems like you're a burden. Perhaps try understanding your own perspective before requesting random peoples dictation which may/may not represent you.
so in the end you may avoid representing a conglomerate of faceless figures opposed to your own real?

idk again maybe my perception is weird but it seems like a real deleterious waste of time to me.

>Plus, sometimes we don't know the quality of a product and if a few people tell me it is shit, then I will be moved to rethink the purchase, and research the product more.
this is what you call research, many academics and respectable people indulge in it. It usually gives a meaningful/reliable view (if not you can research more).
so maybe in the future you can look to your own wealth of knowledge opposed to seeking solice in a pool of faceless figures.

yes or no's work with non-affectionate things, like facts or maths or other ubiquitous shit but something as subjective as design isn't a yes or no thing.

I know what research is, you don't need to speak to me as if I'm retarded. And that's the point, we always need a review of products we are interested in. Does it matter whether it comes from anon, or from some random fucker on his review blog?

If I never have anyone to tell me I'm wrong, how will I ever know? We can't be so egotistical to only listen to our own perspective, and think of it as absolute. Outside influences ARE important.

>if you dont need it then why?
>how can a stranger know yourself better than you know yourself? their incomplete knowledge can only confound your complete.

Yes, you're right. No one can know me better than myself. But you can't assume that every stranger whose opinion I ask for is going to confound my own. Sometimes strangers, and anon especially in this case, can be blunt and tell you you're fucking up.

All I'm saying is self-doubt can be an issue for people, but having absolutely no doubt is worse. If you never second guess yourself, then you're never wrong. You'll never grow.

design isn't like maths or spelling. there is not a objective right or wrong, there's only things you like and dont like. it doesn't mean everyone wont like it or not like it. hence everyones perspective is different but equally as correct - not like maths.
it's not being egotistical, rather pragmatic and/or confident.

in regards to shaping myself my own opinion is absoloute, it's the one i consider most important - if im not comfortable then i wont do it, whats comfortable it what i think is comfortable --> own opinion bes opinion.
outide influences exist but are not important, why would you adjust yourself to someone elses standards when in the end it's not a comfortable position for you...unless what makes you comfortable is conforming to someone elses ethos then maybe but i think it'd be impossible to conform to everyone.

i never said it'd be confounding you might share a similar interest/perspective but yuo'll differ somewhere else, the differences in regards to artistic manifestation are confounding.
blunt=/=right

>aving absolutely no doubt is worse. If you never second guess yourself, then you're never wrong. You'll never grow.
wrong way around buddy...
if you always conform to the average then you'll always be the average, in this sense it's just like maths you'll be the lowest common demoninator, not worth mentioning.
if you cast aside lame af social trappings and just do what you feel comfortable you will always be true to yourself and comfortable while always changing in regards to your self (yourself changing through experience constantly) a better representation and more satisfying result - always growing.

Could any1 give me some idea's what shoes I could buy.

Looking for something preppy but not overly formal or dadcore, I basicly just want something that's not a sneaker AGAIN but isn't going to make people ask me where the funeral is...

I feel like the last 10, 15 posts I've seen you make have all involved some sort of groundless superiority complex wherein you try to make anons who are quite clearly not as experienced, well-read, or involved as you feel badly for, say, wanting to buy a pair of Nikes (or anything that isn't Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme AW99 vintage rarest jacket only two made so authentic.)

I think you should try a little harder to remember what it was like when you were just starting out. I don't think you were always such a paragon of fashion knowledge and decisiveness, and you shouldn't expect everyone else to be either. Or maybe you think you should, and I just read you the wrong way all these years.

But we all remember that boat shoes/chinos fit.

Stay far away. I bought them for $40 bnib and they're rotting in my garage. The quality is awful, they feel cheap, they're badly designed. The velcro straps are the wrong dimension to actually do anything and the stitching was half off the velcro anyway. The "metal" on the tongue is chromed plastic btw.
