>why does mfa go crazy over blackwatch flannel?
Because they can't into contrast.

Blackwatch flannel is a nice pattern on its own but it's not as versatile as it would seem because when you wear it with black or indigo pants you just look shapeless.

It's easy to view the pattern as a nice hard-to-fuck-up palette because infographs are all about navy and black, but in reality it's most often worn like a black dress shirt, poorly accommodated by the rest of the outfit.

What's there to understand with flannel?

i thought that there was some meaning behind why people choose to wear flannel shirts. do people only wear flannels because they think they look nice or are they trying to make some type of statement?

I love how it's structureless and boxy. I love the obnoxiously saturated buttons and the awkward sleeve length. It's just undercover doing its thing

I think the main problem is that if you go into any big box chain store, 99% - 100% of their stock of "good" jackets will be north face
People are trying to buy quality, at least
Not that that's any excuse for fuckface

flannel is comfortable, and warm. i wear it in the autumn so i dont need a jacket, or in the winter as an insulating layer so i dont need a big jacket. i basically wear it in lieu of a button up shirt. but i dont get faggot patterns. basically if it doesnt look like a lumberjack or an outdoorsman for 50 years ago, i dont want it.

Jun Takahashi was probably playing off the whole Talking Heads theme and making things crazy and fun. The whole collection is weird and kooky. It totally gives off the whole, "I'm here, and I don't give a fuck," vibe.
