Inspo threads may seem 'unrealistic' to people. Most of the inspo is from people who have been in interested in fashion for years and years, it shows in the quality of their fits. I think these threads can be realistic to people who come here. People dressing good on 4chan....that is realistic inspiration. Let's be honest, /fa/ is not a place where amazingly dressed people exist, they move onto bigger/or better things.

Inspo threads are not meant for you to aspire to look exactly like them with exactly those pieces. The idea is that you take pieces / silhouettes / shapes / combinations you like and adapt them into forming your own personal style.
With WAYWT threads, the idea behind that is to help people develop 'better quality fits' through trial and error and general advice (despite all the shitposting).

i dont think a lot of people understand some of the really profound foundations a lot of designers build their work from
seriously, learning the context of a body of work and understanding its direction and then being able to apply it to a sort of historical context is SOOO much more satisfying than owning on the base of 'this shit looks sick m8' - youre effectively no better than those guys that buy to get gurls attention, perhaps worse because at least they have a goal whilst the prior is just consuming for the sake of consuming. no real motive or rational.
prob just speaking for myself but seriously - hit up a library or read some articles online accounting for various artistic movements and youll often find a lot of designers aligning themselves within music other forms of culture and expression.
and perhaps then you'll be able to make more educated choices on 'where you want to go' or 'what you want to do' through understanding the motives of a designer. Then maybe there will be less reliance on 'copornot threads' to define and dictate wardrobes

I think this is generally bad. I quite often see people in the WAYWT with expensive items but they have no clue what to wear with them. Like red chinos with common projects (yes i saw that). Inspiration threads are good for finding new styles etc, but you cannot copy peoples proportions/body types, replicating fits will just look wack and lame as hell...because you do not look like them.

Inspiration threads are obviously not working on /fa/. They are making people look even more ridiculous than before.

the problem with inspo threads is they effectively assimilate the perception of a single trending topic through the eyes of perhaps one or two users. Also, often the first 2-3 images dictates the direction of the thread and usually it's the same 100~ pictures that keep getting published since many people use it as their main source of inspiration.
if people don't care enough to find their own inspiration - you aren't doing them a favour bringing it for them and you're certainly not doing yourself a favour asking others to inspire you through proxy.

Just because it's a great post doesn't mean I agree with it. I have respect for the act of taking the time to post something like that, it makes a strong argument.
Besides, I buy loads of shit just to have and look at because it makes me feel good to see the designs. That's about as shallow and simple a reason as anything.
As for designers and theory, I had a few old threads archived on chan archive about just that. If I don't have anything new to say I just sit around and learn.
