are leather high-top sneakers good for winter (in an area with lots of snowfall) or will the leather deteriorate?

>> No.6916568

depends on a lot of things like the construction, type of leather, etc.

but yeah, leather is generally good for winter.

I'm deciding whether to buy a pair of black krisvanassche high top sneakers, but I need some justification because I already bought about 5 pairs of shoes this summer. But I don't have a lot of good shoes for winter so that would be a good reason to get them.

they look mad cheap and tacky
like they are trying to look like "luxury sneakers" 4 rich kids to buy so they feel better than their m8s wearing nike but without any actual interesting design features to differentiate them from cheaper shoes
those in the OP lit look like they could be asos design with nicer materials

also too many details for how simple the shape is

>> No.6916614

>>6916608
I think of these as a replacement for geos to be honest. I prefer the smaller toebox and sole shape.
I guess what I'm saying is that they're supposed to look kind of goofy. There are a lot of details, but I think that they're subtle enough to work with the shape of the shoe.

Are you telling me you wouldn't wear these over nikes?

>> No.6916618

tbh it depends of what winter is like where you live.

if youre in a city where all the streets are cleared and you just walk to the subway/tube/metro then kva's would be fine...but if youre in like montreal where there is salt and snow and shit everywhere get some boots dude

like for me im just walking through rain so i can wear sneakers no problem generally

Yes
Even if they were the same price as Nikes

I'm in Germany, where winters have become uncalculable due to global warming. Most of the time it's just massive rain, but then suddenly there's half a meter of snow. Basically I wonder how bad the snow would be for the leather of high-end sneakers. I don't mind spending a lot, but I don't want them to be fucked up until spring '14, as I want to use them for longboarding, so they should be in good shape next S/S

>> No.6916643

>>6916635

the snow shouldnt be an issue, its more the rock salt thats used to clear sidewalks and roads that will basically disintegrate shoes

maybe considering finding a pair of sneakers that is more boot like, with minimal seams on the upper so there is less chance of water leaking etc, but of course the clunkier they get the harder it will be to stake in them.

idk i would say go for it and if they get fucked up, it might make them look interesting

plus if youre going to skate in them they dont need to be pristine anyways

this has nothing to do with a sense of "class", but with sheer practicality. some people here are writing so bad I sometimes have a hard time deciphering what they are trying to say. also this is an international board with people from all over the world writing, most of which won't be familiar with certain slang terms.

>b-b-but muh m-murica

Then again, people writing like that usually don't have anything meaningful to contribute anyway, so there's that.

exactly. the word has a meaning.
but the whole sentence is meaningless.

OP asked about the durability of leather sneakers during winter with a random pic of a high-end leather sneaker. he couldn't care less about whether some random person on the internet thinks those particular sneakers look good or bad (especially since the sneakers he wants to buy are kris van assche and not balmain), this comment does not add anything meaningful at all to the discussion, ergo it is meaningless.

>> No.6916756

damn you are coming of p anal bruv
someone posted a pic of some sneakers, someone said they didn't like them. That's pretty normal for this board. And you can see that the comment did actually create some discussion about them.

>> No.6916761

thanks for posting another example. A few months ago that sentence would have wasted a few minutes of my life on UD. Fortunately now I know that it's just bullshit.

What? No offence but I can't see what you wouldn't be able to understand about that sentence.

>> No.6916905

>>6916850
I speak English only as a second language and I can read the sentence, but I spend a fair amount on /fa/ and have done so for a couple years, and I can see how someone might have trouble understanding that sentence. half the words in that sentence are either misspelled, abbreviations or slang terms.

And I agree that excessive use of that kind of language is pretty annoying, not only because it's hard to understand, but also because I feel like I'm writing with someone who recently had a lobotomy, having trouble pronouncing words properly and finding it difficult to speak without drool dripping off his chin. Just my two cents.

usually I do. but learning words like that has absolutely no purpose for me other than making fun of people talking that way. I'm just not around people who say "m8 that supreme hat is gash" or "damn you are coming of p anal bruv" much. I don't think that's a bad thing, either.

>> No.6917032

They serve the purpose of helping you understand different people. You will meet people who speak differently at some point, and understanding as much as possible is always good in my opinion.

Just out of interest what don't you understand about "damn you are coming of p anal bruv"?

>> No.6917050

>>6917032
when I'm around in english-speaking countries, it'll usually be around business colleagues who are (hopefully) talking different. if someone on the street talked to me like that, I'd not have a problem saying: "sorry, I don't understand a word you're saying, could you please repeat that sentence without chewing on a massive penis?".

also, I understand that sentence completely as I have pointed out, because I'm here a lot and learn that kind of stuff on the side. but I also see how other people wouldn't.
