i have a /mu/ friend who i guess has been spending some time on /fa/ in an attempt to up his fashion game. however he seems to be going about it all wrong, previously he was wearing short sleeved buttondowns, cargo shorts, and generic clunky sneakers. now from what i can tell he's doing the same thing, but he got some vans OTWs and has started rolling up his shorts and shirt sleeves. i saw him and told him it looked ridic but he said that it was the "proper length" and the "fa thing to do" (i guess he doesnt know i browse). how can i make him understand that you can't go from never thinking about your appearance to dressing well just by following some arbitrary rules, and extremely halfassedly at that? i think his mindset comes from /mu/ and /lit/s obsession with roadmaps and groupthink
