Are items from Uniqlo decent quality for the price? (specifically the jeans and merino wool jumpers)

I don't want to be paying over the odds for Primark-tier stuff.

I was just in the store the other day. I don't like the feel of the mountain one and it really isn't too different from the plain cheap one. I got the reversible, since I spent about a month prior looking for both a reversible hoody and a beater windbreaker, and then out of nowhere Uniqlo does me on both.

A few notes:

- The simple product illustration pictures don't look exactly much like it. The relative proportions look off, somehow. The waistband is thicker, more like an MA-1. The pictures of the guy wearing it up now look right.

- It's not a "parka," hot that you'd expect it to be. Uniqlo calls things parkas like it calls them leggings. It's exactly as thick as you'd imagine a thinnish sweatshirt with a thin windbreaker over it would be, except they're sewn together. Presumably the air pocket between them insulates a little, but seriously. Good for layering.

- There's independent pockets on both sides, which is useful.

- Scuba hood. Very deep - it'll cover my head with fabric to spare, which a lot of hoodies don't. (I've got a huge skull and a lot of hair.)

- All the detailing looks more pronounced, especially and nicely the bordering around the pockets on the hoody side. The bizarre little ring of the outer cuff color on the inner cuff is noticeable; don't think you'll overlook it.

All in all, satisfied. I wish the hoody side had nicer fabric, and I wish it had a DWR (it doesn't seem to) and taped seams, but it's $30. More realistically, I wish the windbreaker layer was ripstop.

>>6787502
Hoodies are acceptable under anything these days. With good reason, they're practically an urban uniform.

>> No.6788760

>>6788737
And don't worry about the color, beyond basic coordination.

My grail hoody probably isn't anything special, but I saw someone on the subway one time with a thin one that was dark charcoal heather with the slightest but definitely noticeable forest green tint. It wasn't the Reigning Champ one; it was even subtler than that. Fabric looked cheaper, too, but the colorway was so great.

Probably will never figure out what it was.

>> No.6792638

it's surprisingly good quality for the price. Apparently Uniqlo doesn't focus on investing in a diversity of fabrics for mass production, but produces the same few fabrics in big quantities, which allows them to focus on increasing the quality of the set amount materials instead of just producing a plethora of new fabrics at an unwearable quality (H&M, Zara, etc).

That said it doesn't beat out designers that'll cost you a little extra.
