What are some ways to stand out a bit wearing business casual?

I have to dress business casual for work and I was wondering how I could mix it up a bit and stand out from my colleagues.

I usually wear:

Navy blazer
Grey pants
White shirt
Black shoes

or

Navy sweater
Grey pants
White shirt
Black shoes

and

Red sweater
Grey pants
White shirt
Black shoes

It all seems pretty basic to me. I was thinking I could swap out the laces on my black shoes for red ones, do you think this would look weird?
Maybe I should get some different colour shirts? Any other ideas?

I just bought my first pair of jeans like... 6 months ago? So what I normally wear is sorta ever changing. But I suppose as of late just a plain tee, some jeans and every now and then just a button up here and there. I like cardigans personally but that's just me. I like autumn colors a lot. Darker greens/dark blues/browns/blacks/tan/grey etc. I personally feel I don't pull off color too well because I have a somewhat pale skin tone, not really over the top pale, I just live in Oregon so there's only sun for about 6-8 weeks a year. okay well sure, i mean this is some pretty hand-holding shit, but none of the colours you've mentioned sound like they'd clash or anything so that makes life easier

pretty much the only thing you need to be careful with in this case is if you've got any patterns or prints going on then you want to make sure they don't clash, the best way to avoid this is to use patterns that are different colours

other than that, you basically want to work your way up from thinnest to thickest material/garment, so basically

tee/undershirt
oxford/linen shirt
flannel shirt/fine cardigan
chunky knitwear/sweatshirt/hoody/blazer
outerwear

you can pretty much do whatever, although i tend to think cardigans look a bit strange layered under stuff but maybe that's just me

I've just always worn what's comfortable to be in, but as time goes on I feel like I can't just always do the same ol thing over and over. I'm sorta going through a transformation phase, I've damn near hit my target weight goal after losing 85 pounds and I'm starting to get fit so I figure it's time to step up my clothing to accommodate.

Yeah from what I've seen on /fa/, there's not a whole lot of cardigans, I'm not sure if I'd actually plan to layer a cardigan; I just personally like them. Looks like I'll have some basic things to work with though! Thanks for your suggestions!

how do ILU Zespy Track pants run? I generally wear a size 30-31 waist depending on the pants/trousers. I want them to be slim but not tight, but I squat, so I have bigger than average legs at my waist size. I was thinking between S or M, any input guys?

Congrats on the weight loss dude

there's not loads of cardigans about, certainly not as many as there used to be, but they can work. I don't really wear them, but I have had my eye on this for a while

layering/outfit-wise, the standard dadcore basic look might be your best bet for now - dark, indigo jeans, some brown shoes (clarks desert boots in beeswax are the default suggestion), oxford shirt in either white, blue or grey, then i guess a sweater, grey (or if you've got a grey shirt then a different colour). However, this look is the 'mfa uniform', i.e. you'll look like everyone does when they start trying to dress better, but that's for a reason...

Thank you! It's been a rough road, I still have about 25 pounds to go but since I'm starting to hammer down a nice work out routine and just started to get into jogging I feel I'll be within my goal in the next month or two, just in time for uni to start back up again.

I was able to cop some vintage clarks on ebay for 50 bucks, they were hardly worn and they were the ones made in England rather than Vietnam, they're a light grey though. I couldn't pass up the deal though. I don't mind the "dadcore" look honestly, I've always somewhat liked it and really not many kids around here in Oregon actually wear anything like that. It's all skinny jeans and graphic t-shirts and hipster shit, i.e looking like a bum. So I'm okay with that!

I like the cardigan you showed, it has an interesting woven pattern that I don't ever see here in Oregon. I'll be sure to look into it! Even if dadcore is a starting point I don't mind at all, I've tried just deep diving into things before and it ends up just getting over my head. Thanks a big one for advice!

yeah i'm using dadcore with my tongue firmly in my cheek, I dress kind of... monochrome dadcore myself.

A good thing to watch out for to put you a little higher than basic bitch status is the texture and material or clothes, like the knit on the cardigan, or linen blend clothes... basically try not to have everything be the same smooth texture, add a little bit of excitement in, even if it's just a marled tee or some knitwear

Hey /fa/. I have a close friend who is a really cool guy in most situations but is a complete faggot in one: clothes. He is privileged enough to have a rich family who still pays for his stuff, and being the smart man he is, he spends it all on clothes and 'designer' accessories. By clothes, I mean "$1500 True Religion Jeans", and "$850 Louis Vuitton Belt", and "$130 True Religion Graphic Tee". I constantly try to tell him that if he stopped spending so much money on that garbage, he could have an actual good style of his own, and he always spouts shit like "I don't wear it for other people, it's for me!", "But the stitching on the jeans makes it worth the money.", and "It's 100% pure cotton, try finding me a shirt less than $200 in that material.".

Anyways, do any of you guys have any ideas on how to properly tell him to not be a faggot?

black blue and grey seem best, i have plenty of lighter blacks already so i'd be looking at blue and grey in shades closer to white.

i've had a hard time finding light blue jeans or pants that fit the bill.

for blue it seems like light washed is the obvious answer but that's pretty unpopular here. for grey it seems a bit easier but i'm not 100% sold on mid shade greys, they seem to muddle up the black/white contrast in my experience. i have no idea where to get nice very light grey pants that would fit in an otherwise black/white outfit.
