I had a mexican Jazzmaster that had some seriously fucked intonation/wiring issues, I bought it new (with a crazy discount, about a third of retail) but having to constantly adjust shit was a real pain. That said, I fucking loved the whammy and how it continued to stay in tune. I sort of miss it but I broke even when I sold it so I don't really mind

I have a dozen or so electric guitars and basses, most of them low end $200-300. I get them cheap and fix them. I also make solid electric guitar bodies and use necks from some of the other guitars I buy.

It's custom. I'd tell you but I'm the only person on that drum company's artist team that also plays TRX so it's really easy to discern which person is me.

That being said, TRX cymbals are MB20 brass, there aren't any cymbals made out of finer material than they are. Same level of material quality as Paragon's or Meinl's MB20 series.

In terms of smithing quality, they are made by the same workers who produce Istanbul's cymbal line so they aren't bad cymbals by any standard.

Truthfully, if I hadn't gotten such a good deal on the TRX setup, I would have either a full array of Istanbul Sultan's or a mixture of Benny Greb sig Vintage Sand cymbals and some of the extra dry Meinl's depending on my playing situation.

Bosphorus is really good too but non existent where I live and I hate ordering cymbals without trying them.

if you have good headphones and trust video recordings you can snag some great deals, I got the bosphorus online. It's a shame the Dirils don't have any US distribution last I checked, amazing sound quality for the price. $220 for a good ride and it sounded better than any of the top line cymbals I tried at local shops

I'll probably end up moving over to Meinl once my current setup breaks, if only because of the amazing discounts they offer to artists. I've yet to be disappointed by Meinl's offerings, with the exception of the awful New Classics.

I haven't heard a single mienl I've liked. They're all one note cymbals to my ear, no depth of tone or anything. I guess some people like that though

Try checking out Benny Greb's signature line, or Mike Johnston's new prototype. A lot of meinl cymbals cater to the younger crowd but those two particular lines are full of nuance.
