There's not much point in even owning a car in most cities, feet/bicycle/manual transportation is much more versatile, cost effective, and responsible.

I own a car, but have driven it three times in the last 6 months. Other times I just bike or walk where I need to go, and carpool with other people when going hiking/climbing/roadtripping.

I'm gonna be bringing my dad's old bike to college with me, but the damn thing's gear shifters are on the underside of the frame. My campus is fairly hilly, so I don't wanna be shifting gears too often, so is there a general speed that should be all-purpose? I'm not too sure how bikes work, but I think the little gear has 2 speed, and the big one has 7ish.

not where i live. all the bike lines are on the side of the roads where potholes are like a foot deep. i live in da hood so all our roads are total shit too. they have some nice ones up on the northside and stuff, but I never go farther north than oak st (and thats only for shopping).
