First off, don't just get tattoos to compensate for being short/skinny/etc... get tattoos because you like the look (I'm assuming you are wanting to be pretty heavily covered eventually based on the pic u used).

Also, that dude has his neck tatted, but still has space left on his stomache... doesn't make sense to me...

think about each tattoo for a year, and if you still want it after that year, get it.
like, if you want a bunch, think about them all every day and if youre not sick of them, get them all.

if you care at all what people think, don't get a tat. if you need to ask if an image is okay for a tat, don't get it

I don't, someone I used to know gave me that very sage advice though. It's smart, our tastes are always changing and it prevents that "oh god how do I cover this" moment years in the future.
Also, I would suggest going to the best artist you can find in your entire state, and if you have the funds, even go further to find one. It's going to be with you forever so why not make it perfect, right?

Tattoos are only a detriment in the interview and preliminary stages because some people will make negative assumptions based on them. They can easily be covered up during that time.

Once you're in and your employer sees your worth, he isn't going to (and I'm pretty sure can't by law) fire you because he sees tattoos on your arm.

Themed sleeves are the best.
I mean, I like people who just slap up some tattoos on their arms. But they just never compare to some of the work that goes into sleeves, at the art work presented on them usually. Being friends with a lot of tattoo artist, I also see a lot more creativity and personality put into sleeves then I do with most of the individual tattoos I see.

Seriously, imagine you like the design on a particular t-shirt. So you decide to buy that t-shirt, and then have it permanently grafted onto your skin. You know have to wear that shirt every day of your life, 24 hours a day, until you die. You can cover it with clothing when the weather is suitable, and if the shirt is small enough, but it's always there. You are now stuck with single a fashion choice for the rest of your life. You'd better be damn sure that your tastes aren't going to change much in the next 50-70 years.

TLDR: Unless you have a lifestyle that promotes being covered with a bunch of tats (musician, biker, artist), you'll likely live to regret your decision. You still have a long time for tastes to change, so think long and hard before getting a tat. The best advice in this thread is: >>6571765

Bonus advice: when picking out designs, keep in mind that your tats will eventually bleed and blur - colours will fade and lines will get fuzzy. As such, avoid designs with very fine details unless you want to end up with an unintelligible blob in 20 years.
