I just go to a female stylist. It's more expensive per haircut, but I never walk out of there disappointed. Just find someone knowledgable like this and your golden.

After hundreds of aircuts and having very specific instructions, you relaly need to analyze the cut you want, your hairline and specify how you want what cut.

You can't just give em a pic and use that as a reference, say you want this X long, (Measurement), the sides blended HERE, your part HERE etc.

Showed him this photo once and now he does it spot on every time and I've shown him photos and he critiques them and says what he's going to do to try and improve them. Great guy tip him 30% every time.

i'm sorry but your sides are really weird. did you try trimming it by yourself? the differences in the length of that buzz is way off. maybe it's the color but idk. looks pretty wack, man. if you were to get it again i'd recommend getting the back and sides buzzed with a 1 or 2 and ask for a connected fade, considering the length of the top. if you ask for a disconnected cut (ie hitler youth-esque) then it'll look dumb until the top of your hair grows longer

I've always had the same experience. I don't give demanding instructions, I tell them 2 or 3 basic things and they always cut my bangs too short and awkward every time. I haven't had one in at least 2 months because I don't want to face any more disappointment.

The most likely thing that happened is that the hair stylist gave you the hair cut (or near), but because you hair texture is different, it doesn't fall the same way.
If you are unhappy with something, go somewhere else.
Don't expect a good cut for 20 bucks.
Also the OP hair is very easy to do yourself. If you're unhappy with the hair you have, do it yourself. Invest in some clippers with different size guards.

You don't need any specific cut, just long enough hair. You don't even need product for your hair to go back like that (although you might for the shine he has).

Just start combing/brushing the back half of your hair straight back through the crown of your hair. It'll fight back for a while, because you've probably had a crown for ~20 years, but within a week or two it'll lay completely flat.

I started styling through my crown about six months ago when a friend mentioned it was possible, and it's fucking changed my life.

Get some kind of matte texturizing cream. Rub into dry hair, mess it around. Then get sea salt spray, hold a foot from head, spray around. Let it all dry and then style/mess until desired look is achieved.

I cut my own hair. Mainly i do it by feel. I'll run my fingers through the back and sides and where it feels long/thick thats where i cut it. for the front i do it in the mirror. the neckline in the back is the hard part though but im getting it.
