There's nothing wrong with graphic tee's but here's the thing though. When you're trying to educate a newfag it's best to work in absolutes. Someone who knows nothing about clothes is going to look much better after re-working their wardrobe if you give them hard rules like no graphic tee's and stick to earth tones.

Like it or not /fa/ always has and always will be a public service that's purpose is to dress / educate the rest of 4chan who come here daily to sort their shit out.

Also on that note, most of these peoples wardrobes already consist almost entirely of graphic t-shirts, they would never improve if we said "oh yeah graphic t-shirts are fine just use discretion".

The reality is most people who come here and get better figure this out on their own and realize sooner or later that every rule in the book can be broken once you know what you're doing but if you're starting at square one you should put the graphic t's aside for a moment and figure out how to dress yourself without them. It's a great lesson if nothing else, even if you have impeccable taste in graphic t's they can be a crutch. If you're only wearing solid colour T's you're soon forced to find other ways to make your outfit look more interesting (or even better yet learn to diversify beyond t-shirts entirely).
