prep isn't dadcore. Dadcore is vastly misrepresented on this board.

I dunno who the fuck you people are looking at, but dads tend to have a few telltale dress styles not really seen by people who post here. One main factor is the awful, loose/baggy fit. Secondly, they tend to by cheap shit that is just thrown together. There is a lot of tucked in t-shirts, and horrible looking shoes. These shoes are generally from new balance. They also wear a lot of shoes like pic related. Then there is the jeans. They have that really ugly wash. Not sure what it is called, but you know what I mean. Dads tend to just not give a fuck.

All of the teenagers around here think you are dadcore if you don't dress like a hypebeast or goof ninja. In a few years they will inevitabley look back and be ashamed, or they will be the equivalent of that 30 year old guy who still wears cargo short down to his ankles and a chain while working his minimum wage job.

30, Hawaii. I tend towards preppy because I do consulting work and it helps you to sell anytime and anywhere if you look serious and professional.

If I need to tone it down, I can always undo another button, roll the sleeves and talk pidgin. They know you stay local if you know how for talk pidgin. When I go for talk to people I got to gauge what they going think depending on how I talk. Hey, OP here. I'm completely with you, hit a growth spurt and now most of my clothes are too small so I'm starting over as well. I really suggest things like sweaters, field jackets, and vests. These are prep staples and can spice up your outfit enough so it's not preppy. I'm a fan of boat shoes personally, but also look up some loafers as they offer a great alternative and change up from your regular boat shoes. Mostly, prep is all about the attitude just as much as the fashion. Don't be the "dude" type, that's what separates the boys (fraternities) from the men (classic preps).

Somewhat; I'm 19 and in a frat at an ivy league school. My classmates were very excited when a J. Crew opened up near campus, but those who can afford it wear J. Press and sometimes Brooks Brothers. I usually only wear prep to frat-sponsored events and occasionally to class.

Care to mention which ivy?
Ivy frats have a much more classic prep style then southern schools from what I've noticed.

Also I really like the pants, belt and shirt in >>6242574 anyone know where I can get them?
I used to dress like >>6242594 but to be truthful I got a girlfriend and in between her, school and making music I have no time to shop or do laundry for that matter.

I'm 22 and as of late I'm listening to experimental, jazz, math, prog, and classical

I'm at Dartmouth (in New Hampshire) and my older sister just finished at Vanderbilt (in Tennessee), and there's definitely a difference in dress, mostly stemming from tradition (e.g. girls wear sundresses to football games at Vandy).

I feel that the southern prep at Vandy is becoming more "classic prep" thanks to the growing population of NYC prep school kids (but the fits still tend to be looser), while Dartmouth and Princeton remain "classic prep" due to the WASPy student body and large population coming from New England prep schools.

I don't know how it is in other countries, but in America it really doesn't matter how you dress. So many wealthy, self made people dress like shit.
It will only matter if you're trying to befriend an ivy league kid who cares about social status, so it's really up to you whether you care about that or not.

Fricken awesome man, respect for the green! I'm hoping to get into Emory which is a tad below Vandy (would've applied to Dartmouth and Cornell but didn't take freshman year seriously). At the Emory campus I've noticed lots of New England styled preps too even though its southern location.

Well I'm in a NARP frat (Non-Athletic Regular Person) so we typically wear bright OCBDs and chinos with boat shoes out to class or semi-formal events when the weather permits. Otherwise we care more about comfort and warmth.

However, the sport-specific frat members (about 60%) often wear Lacoste polos, khakis, and boat shoes. But there are obviously a bunch of lazy frat guys who just wear tanks and sweatpants.

Tennis players used to wear long sleeved button down shirts and sweaters until Lacoste invented the polo shirt. Tweed sport coats were worn when hunting, and bright pants that are sometimes embroidered were worn while playing golf or spending time on your boat.
