Any good no 'poo advice, /fa/? I haven't used shampoo since February, and my hair is in really nice condition, but it's kinda limp... like even though I have really thick hair, it doesn't much life or volume to it.

Any tips on dealing with that? Or is it something more effected by the haircut than the way you wash it?

Hair won't have volume unless you blow it out or put products into it. You actually have to STYLE your hair in order for it to look a specific way.

USE COLD WATER ON SCALP ONLY or you will get 'druff and have to start over

routine
>cold water rinse every day, using no poo
>condition once a week
>home made shampoo if you want but its unnecessary (1 tbsp baking soda, 1 cup water)

thicker and stronger hair in a few weeks.

that's all you need to keep it clean. and the point of no poo IS to restore the natural balance of oils to your hair which is what gives you the hold.

OP here. I tried water only for a little bit, but after a few days I just couldn't get my hair clean. No matter how thoroughly I tried washing it, my hair would still be oily-looking when it dried (not to mention it was hard to get my fingers through my hair with only water while washing it, all the water seemed to do was create more friction which made it really hard to wash it properly).

Perhaps it's worth mentioning that my hair is quite long (about as long as Bowie's is in my OP pic).

you have super long hair so you probably used a lot of product right? there is a 2 week ish long period of adjustment where you may get too oily but it will pass. your scalp is used to being totally stripped of oils from the 'poo and generates more than normal when using it. when you stop, it takes a while to get back to normal so you might be greasy for a bit.

maybe you should use the homemade poo. this chick has longer hair and explains what i said basically

All of these people are using pomade or foaming creme, if you are implying they're using no poo, you're just a troll.

Look at the end strands of theh air. so obvious.

yea sure. i only do it once a week bc it weighs down my hair a lot and i like it to stand up on its own as much as possible. if i did it more i'd be using a lot of paste / wax and it's a hassle.

i like your hair

mine is pretty ugly right now and i'm probably about to get a short hair cut, so i figure I might as well change my hair care along with my style

>> No.6127283

I have been no poo for over a month. I have no more dandruff than usual. Hot water will wash oil from your hair, but it will also dry out your scalp. I use lukewarm water to wash it when I shower in the morning.

I comb my hair frequently so it doesn't get nappy. And I use pomade or wax to style my hair. Looks good and has nice volume, but i have thick hair naturally.

>> No.6127323

I have very fine, needle straight hair.

Would the whole No-poo thing work for me? I don't have dandruff or oil problems but I am sorta tired of spending $16+ on Aussie volume shampoo/conditioner (Separate bottles)

>> No.6127341

>>6127323
idk how your hair is or if it could get any more volume naturally than with your products. but it will be technically healthier and it's worth a try. if it works you save money, and you got nothing to lose.

>> No.6127679

volumizing powder, biatch

if your hair is long enough, backcomb and/or hairspray and/or wax

>> No.6127685

you dickcanoes, you can't just drop shampoo cold turkey, you have to phase it out slowly and replace w/ conditioner

your hair will definitely be oily and disgusting if you randomly stop using a type of product you've probably been putting on it your whole life
