lurk for a bit and you'll see that new balance shoes are pretty 'in' these days. i'd recommended something like these. they offer good support for whatever activities you might decide to tackle this summer - indoors or out.
don't be turned off by the fact that they are running shoes - they are great for casual wear as well.

as far as tops go, nothing will get you more hipster cred than a retro band tshirt. even if you are not a big fan of the band on your shirt, remember that it's the image that matters. you can't go wrong with a classic joy division or nirvana t. here's an example that might suit you.

If you must wear cargo shorts, then I'd go with blank tees for tops and chunky shoes (like nike af1's or NB 574's). but dont wear cargo shorts if you can avoid it.

Just to nip it in the bud, there are also non-exaggerated, goth-y cargo shorts out there that fit well and look great.

Apples to oranges. Julius is very direct in its industrial/military references. The Rick shorts nod to military styling, but the shape and volume always takes my mind back to a very sporty, athletic place. Also, the signature belt on the Cargo Pods/Pants has always felt like a nod towards the stitched belts on gis and whatnot.

the belt is what i love about em either way
i used 2 run around in tiny child size bdus and i had some of those webbed belts
since i was like 7 - 10 they were too big to properly fasten so they draped around my hips instead B)
