why would we even discuss fashion if we were entirely incapable of doing nothing more than assigning arbitrary names to every slight change that occurred in any outfit? gothninja has to denote a certain format, a certain manner or idea around which the clothing takes form. Otherwise, the name is as useful a term as hipster.
It's not like you call dadcore outfits gothninja. There's clearly something to what gothninja is.

Of course, there aren't any hard-set rules, like it must be all black or it must be of this length or it must be of this or that. The problem I have is that the outfits I previously linked seem to be almost unrelated outside of the heavy use of black and at least one article of clothing not really conforming to the human body shape

for me 'gothninja' (hate using the term) is people who enjoy monochrome palettes in their outfits, appreciate interesting fabrics and craftsmanship over visible branding, play with silhouettes and proportions. You can walk into a rick owens store and assemble two entirely different looking outfits (one with dresses, elongated silhouettes, boots, cardigans etc and the other with skirted pod shorts dunks and a tank top) so it's just a matter of how these people like 'channeling' the aesthetic i think

to break it down i kind of just see it as 3 branches
1. 'street' aspect, sneakers snapbacks hoodies dropcrotch etc
2. 'traditional menswear' aspect where it stays in line with suiting, etc but plays with silhouettes and proportions (eg. Yohji Yamamoto)
3. full on goth shit drapes everywhere layering everywhere

of course people have their unique style so like to mix things up, that's just a skeleton figure of how i kind of see it
