I get that it's an anime girl and I'm not an anime girl, but I'm fascinated with the idea of wearing shirts/jackets with ridiculously long sleeves and incredibly long almost dress-sized shirts.

In terms of male fashion... does this exist?

I just like the way it feels.

It feels snug, and... well, safe. Even if I know it's actually less safe than just having regular length clothing because it gets hung up on stuff easier.

Have you ever heard of a gentleman named Rick Owens?

I'm not sure how to post a photo from instagram but someone I follow did it and it looks okay - http://instagram.com/p/YFPrYiNZRH/
Just make sure you wear pants underneath, I'm not a fan of the jacket idea. Your sleeves should stop at your wrist

It comes from when I was in school.

My family was living on the cheap and we always bought clothes that were a few sizes too large for me, so jackets and sweaters and long sleeved shirts all ended up being huge on me.

I want to wear that kind of clothing again -- I still have the same clothes I had in freshman year of high school.

>> No.5970400

There are activewear jackets that have thumbholes on the cuff. I suppose if you got them with long length you could get them in the style you want while still having a reasonable fit on the shoulders and waist.

>> No.5970407

>>5970399
That's pretty dirty.

You can wear oversized things, I do it myself but you have to be smart with the cuts and sleeve lengths so that you don't look weird.
This is sounding more like cosplay opposed to fashion though.

>> No.5970403

Rick Owens makes long shirts with long sleeves that are supposed to fit that way, check him out

I actually prefer sizing up one or two sizes for hoodies and jackets, I like the comfy effect it gives, and helps my legs look longer when I wear slim fitting jeans/pants/sweats.

>> No.5970428

It looks great on girls, but not so much on guys unless you're really handsome or cute for a guy.

You know, lately I've been kinda jealous of girls. They have so much more variety in clothing that men just can't pull off.

I'm not even the guy you're responding to but if you're wearing a $1000+ outfit that looks like factory defects you got free from the Salvation Army, I say fuck fashion.

>> No.5973674

>>5973655

I understand that the look itself might not be your cup of tea, but I don't understand what you mean by "factory defect". Are you referring to the asymmetric placket?

Also, it's not like this is the ONLY runway clothes out there.

>> No.5973713

>>5973674
Yeah, it looks the machine broke about halfway through and the whole thing went crooked. Maybe I just don't get it but frankly I think it looks like shit, especially those garish cuffs and that fanny-pack looking bit at the bottom, not to mention those ill-fitting pants tucked into his boots (I don't care what anyone says, it will NEVER look good)

And I'm not saying that all runway clothes look like shit, of course, but a lot of it is just ugly, pretentious garbage passed off as "groundbreaking and original" to people convinced they're better than everyone else because they have exorbitant amounts of money to spend on ugly, pretentious garbage.

Well, this is how the cardigan looks on its own. I think you're very much getting caught up in styling and not seeing past the VERY exaggerated way the look is assembled to see the clothing itself.

>> No.5973773

>>5973735
Now that actually looks good, the stripes work well to accent the asymmetry, and it doesn't scream "LOOK AT HOW DIFFERENT I AM" at the top of it's lungs. That other one though, >>5973254 is just... tacky.

>> No.5973788

>>5973773

Same design, just different execution. Think a little more about what I previously posted in terms of trying to separate the clothes from the original context so you can be a little more critical and analytical about it rather than just going with a knee-jerk response.

i love ann's old twisted stripe work. it's not really groundbreaking, but the craftwork is impressive; the way that the pattern is sort of bias-knit and then twisted seamed and yet the pattern matches throughout is hugely impressive from a design standpoint.

it's funny that you're going on and on about novelty, given ann demeulemeester's ethos. for something so shallow you sure have managed to miss her point

>> No.5973948

>>5973819

There isn't a "flap". It's just the same bottom hem as on the one you like, except that it's unbuttoned and it's in motion. This is exactly what I meant, though, about needing to be more critical and thoughtful when you're looking at stuff. You actually like it on the wider striped version, but because of the photography and the motion of the model, you're being thrown off.
