>implying that's not a fucking steal

If you make an account on their (Carmina's) site and set up a non-EU address, it'll automatically deduct VAT from all prices. The ones you posted are 360 EUR, and the cordovan variant (I think only available in Cognac from the web shop) is about 500 EUR. That's a fucking steal for shell, especially since they source from Horween. If 360 EUR is still too much, look into Meermin.

Anyway, here are my boots. Just got notice of another pair coming in within a week or two, and I have a deposit paid for another pair after that.

My bad, I meant that Carmina's similar Cordovan pair is Cognac (the shade of brown seen here >>5962360).

Meermin is just a cheaper brand that might be worth looking into if Carmina is too expensive. I have no experience with them, since Carmina hits my sweet spot as far as price goes, but you could at least check out the Meermin thread on Styleforum. You'd probably be looking at ~$400 per pair, but I'm not sure what styles they offer.

Doc Martens 1460's in black! Not sure if there are many Dr Martens fans on /fa/ but since buying these 4 months ago I seem to wear them everywhere!

Anyone who does own a pair mind telling me how you wear your trousers with them? For the first week I turned my jeans up and had it the turn up's show just above the top of the boot. I now usually just have my jeans going into the boot but see lads out and about with their trousers right down over the boot, I think this is a good look but when looking in the mirror at it at home it don't seem right for some reason. All my jeans are skinny btw.

Just be sure to use shoe trees after each wear. There's nothing to really prevent or minimize them aside from that. Regardless, they add character to the shoe, and are a visual aspect to be appreciated; at least if the leather is real, tanned and dyed properly. There's even a fetish amongst mens fashion purveyors who really appreciate a good crease. Pic related.

That's me. Really depends on a bunch of factors.

>sole
Single leather, 1.5 leather, double leather, Dainite, York, Commando, Victory. Obviously a double leather will have more life than a single leather.
>how you walk
Everyone walks differently. Some people wear out shoes twice as fast as other people--some people even faster.

As for wearing them daily, I really wouldn't recommend that. The whole point of shoe trees is to allow shoes to maintain their shape when they're not being worn, so they don't warp over time. That's why you see lasted trees (trees fit EXACTLY to the shape of a shoe) that cost $100+ per pair rather than the generic cedar pairs that go for $15. Wearing the same pair of shoes every day might not give the leather enough time to dry from the moisture of your feet. Even if you wore them every other day, you'd almost definitely get more than 2x as much life out of them as if you wore them daily.

I never wear the same pair twice in a row (also have three pairs of Carmina shoes in rotation), and all of them look fantastic. The oldest I have is a pair of monks that I've had for a little over a year, and they look just as good as the pairs I've picked up in the last 3-4 months.

Few tips:

Consider sunken toe taps. No extra clicking, ~$50 per pair (you can mail them in to B. Nelson in NYC and have them shipped back to you for $50 total if you don't have a local cobbler). Prevents the toes from wearing down.

Take care of the leather, both the sole and the upper. A rainy day won't destroy the shoes, but you're better off going with a rubber sole if you know it's going to be wet outside; consistently letting leather soles get wet could decrease their life spans. Also, use some kind of leather conditioner from time to time (Saphir Renovateur worked wonders for my AEs after I beat them up too bad). Wax as desired, but be careful not to build it up too much or it'll crack.

>> No.5968796

>>5968779
>>5968688
Wow, my bad, I am an idiot; I thought you asked if you wore them every day, not every other day.

Every other day? Years. Literally years. You can get the heels replaced with minimal issues, and you can get a few resoles out of a pair of shoes, no problem. If you keep cycling in new pairs of shoes from time to time, you could very well own them until you die.

As a 4seriouse3u winter boot I wouldn't trust the Mali boots, the sole on those things wouldn't work for my winters, which would likely mean they wouldn't work for yours either. As a spring/fall boot, or mild winter setup, they wouldn't be bad. But if you are trudging about in 3 feet of snow +, I'd want something with a good tread pattern.

By the way, the LL Beans I was suggesting were the waterproof variants for 210$, they have a full lug sole and are still a solid as fuck boot. The ones you posted however, are pretty stellar. Buying big and socking up in them is definitely an option. Or check out Icebreaker socks, they are fantastic. I used their city line in my boots throughout this last winter.

SnoSeal is perfectly fine to apply to these boots, the main reason I suggested the waterproofed version is the lug sole rather than the waterproofing. Lug soles make a snowy landscape a hell of a lot easier to get through, and the regular sole on the Iron Work boots from LL Bean doesn't seem like it'd be too successful in battle against a good covering of snow.

These are Chelsea boots, JM Westin and RM Williams make some fantastic chelseas.

These look like those weird shortwing boot/hightop sneaker hybrids that anon was posting only a few minutes ago.

Depends on what you consider everyday wear. I don't see any of the dressier boots here that you couldn't wear semi casually.

Pic kind of related

It depends on your style.
Redwing Iron Ranger and Clarks are pretty casual with jawnz, while the Aldens and Dalton are alot more formal and would look better with slacks.

DO NOT buy Aldo, it may look good when you're new, but you'll soon realize that it's walmart quality.

Well I will give you a rundown of my shit.

>>5968879
Left to right, top row first.
1) I wear these when I know it wont rain, because even though they aren't prissy as fuck, I am OCD with them. Not a good boot for daily wear.
2) I wear these to work. Casually, fuck that.
3) I wear these almost exclusively all winter. Definitely capable of being a daily wear boot.
4) The sole on these prevents me from wearing them in the winter, but I wore them solid in the spring/fall/summers for the past 2 or 3 years. If you don't have a snowy winter, they could work year round.

Bottom row:
1)Clarks, could wear these all the fucking time and I do. These get beat to shit.
2) Fuck these shits, I want to burn them.
3) I wear these in spring/fall quite a bit, they wouldn't work daily.
4) RAIN BOOTS.

Overall, most boots will be capable of being worn year round as long as they have a solid tread, are leather(not suede or some porous shit.), and aren't insulated. I'd suggest two boots at least though, one for the winter with a solid lug sole and some Hefty leathers, and another a little more lightweight with a cork sole, or something along those lines.

>Aldo
Mass market shit.

If you only like brick and mortar, then I have no clue what is around you naturally. Leather Soul has a store in Beverly Hills now. I realize NorCal isn't LA, but that would be a solid as fuck heaven for you.

Online, leathersoul, leffot, context, epaulette, blackbirdballard and the shoe mart are a great place to start.

did you resole your clarks with vibrams or are they desert troopers?

>> No.5969716

are there any stores in generic malls that would have decent /fa/ boots?

I am not psychotic enough to resole clarks, so they are indeed the troopers.

>>5969716
There are a few mall stores here in Canuckistain that sell redwings, clarks and even wolverine. Hell, the Bay sells Clarks and Redwings(I've only see Redwings in the store at the Eaton centre).

So just go check out the shoe stores in your mall and look for those names and the others you've seen tossed around /fa/.

Everyone is given some leeway with their earlier collections, it is expected however that once they mature, they will move beyond their earlier failures. I'd just personally group drips in with some of the earlier failures. If you disagree, that is perfectly fine with me.

Does a resole cost a lot? Are you saying Clarks are so expendable that you should get another pair or get something else rather than resole?
