So what are good tobacco fragrances. Other than the one in OP, I've heard of Mancera Red Tobacco, and then Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. However I am hestiant about the Tom Ford one because after trying Ombre Leather Parfum and noticing how quickly the scent's complexity I'm worried about similar experiences with other Tom Ford fragrances.

Tabac Dore for real tobacco, the attar is really nice if you don't want to drop 350 on a bottle and you can get 9ml decants for $90. Tobacco Maniac is my favorite honey tobacco, and Amouage Royal Tobacco for frankincense/tobacco. The Amouage is definitely incense heavy so it's hard to really class it as just a tobacco.

Bought the summer sample set to fill in the few things not included when I bought his full set this past winter. Looking forward to trying to them because there’s a lot of lime notes mentioned.

Chergui is good. 18.21 Manmade Sweet Tobacco Spirits is extremely good for the price. It's performance is on par with luxury houses like Killian and Parfums de Marly, but it costs $80 on Amazon. It's from a little startup that does men's grooming products, and I guess their customers kept asking them to make a fragrance that smells like their scented hair products.

It sat on the shelf at around $40 for a while until fragcom found out about it and then it exploded. There was an insane amount of hype for like a year, then people kind of forgot about it. It has a photo-realistic honied-tobacco accord with an interesting red wine note that tempers the sweetness and mixes with patchouli and cedar that darkens it up a bit. The quality is somewhat baffling given that there's no listed perfumer and it's literally the first release put out by a house that doesn't actually make perfume. If I sprayed Oajan or Back to Black on one hand and 18.21 on another and asked someone to pick out the fragrance that cost $300, they'd probably have no clue.

Big fan of Caron pour un Homme de Caron EDT, it's still one of the biggest bottles I own (500 ml.) Blind bought it quite a few years ago after one of your videos recommending it, such a good recommendation. Right now the bottle has only about 25% left. I use it on my own, and also on my bed and pillows before going to sleep. It's wonderful! Looking forward to checking out this parfum. Maybe they will consider an Elixir? That would be great!

It smells incredible but it's like it's not even there

Well, I tried and compared Habit Rouge EdT and Parfum. They are very different fragrances. The Parfum is a darker, warmer fragrance that has kind of a smokey leatheriness to it. It isn't a very prominent leather or smokiness but it is interesting. It also doesn't have a large change between the initial application and the dry down. The EdT in comparison is much brighter. The opening citrus notes are much more prominent. Also the floral notes in the EdT are very strong. In the beginning I think I prefer the EdT. I'm a big fan of the floral notes. But in the drydown I think I prefer the parfum. However, having tried both I don't think I will purchase either. While I do like both of them I don't think I like them enough to purchase.

If you like Caron pour un homme get the vintage formulation. It is better. I also have a big bottle (750ml) that I use for linens and everything. It and guerlain vetiver are my two favorite fragrances for sure. The leau flanker is also very nice for a modern interpretation that doesn’t stray too far. I also want to comment on the psychology of luxury products. Guerlain and Caron perfumes were readily available at discounter prices for years (30-40usd for 100ml bottles) and people here pointed their nose up at it but are now happy to pay 150usd for a 100ml bottle. Very interesting

There is a lot of focus on the projection of fragrance on this general. From what I can tell, high projection is generally seen as a good thing.

Equally prevalent in this hive of scum and villainy are wildly differing opinions of what fragrances smell good vs. not. Just today, I looked up a fragrance I recently tried and fell in love with, only to find that someone else had made a post calling this specific cologne *REALLY FUCKING SHIT*.

I'm sure we can all agree that what smells good is totally subjective, and that no one enjoys breathing in odors that they find objectionable.

So how does wearing enough cologne/perfume that someone more than a couple feet away from you can smell it not exactly correlate to blasting your music without headphones?

I'm not referring to instances of wearing a cologne that your partner loves on you and wanting them to smell it. I'm talking about leaving your home wanting to be surrounded by a "projection" cloud that people who are not hugging you can still detect.

It can be. But there are varying degrees of noticing something. If something is lightly detectable at a couple feet distance from you it is different than if something is strongly detectable at 5 or more feet from you. I generally when wearing a fragrance I will spray 2 sprays on the neck. Perhaps another on the sternum area of my shirt. I don't have any fragrances that are super strong so I'm assuming if people notice the scent I'm wearing it is fleeting. But different cultures are different. It is my understanding that in Japan people are closer to your opinion where no one should smell almost any scent on you. This is somewhat seen in East Asian fragrances which tend to much lighter than Western and Oriental fragrances.

So after comparing the Heritage EDT and EDP, they are very similar. The main difference is that the EDP just smells a little stronger. I do notice Lavender more in the EDP than in the EDT, but it still isn't a very prominent note for me in the EDP. Both smell really good in the dry down. I am very happy with my purchase of Heritage EDP. It is a great fragrance.

My sample for the day was Montcler Pour Homme. It's a nice simple clary sage fragrance. Just clary sage and wood basically. Clary sage smells clean to me like a soap ingredient. I've tried Luna Rossa EDT before and I liked it, Montcler PH is basically that but without going all the way into the soap ingredient direction.

Naxos 1861 is good for honey+tobacco but it comes with cinnamon which makes you smell like a graham cracker, which I don't want if I just want honey+tobacco. And it the lavender is a bit of weird niche combo.

Spicebomb Extreme is a nice for tobacco+vanilla, I thought it was like a better/more complex Tom Ford tobacco Vanille that smelled like whiskey.

D&G The One is good if you want a cardamom fragrance.
