Hey /wt/, please suggest me a watch. I don't know much about watches, but I have a set budget and I'd love to get my money's worth. What is the "best" watch with these criteria:

>Your budget
Max 300€
>Watch type, e.g. cope, larp, poor
Any will do as long as I like the design
>Movement, e.g. automatic, hand wound, quartz, solar
Any, but prefer no quartz ("quartz bad")
>Desired features, e.g. water resistance, day/date, 2nd time zone
Basic water resistance and day is enough. Open to funky dials if they fit the design
>Preferred strap option, e.g. leather, nylon, bracelet, rubber
Steel bracelet (preferred) or leather
>Wrist size or desired case size ex: > 40mm marabout, 37-39mm preop, 33-36mm patrician, < 33mm gf tier
Max 40mm but less than 37mm

Titanium is actually softer than stainless steel so it scratches more easily. But it is noticeably lighter and "healthy for the skin" or at least, it's anti-allergic.
For cost? Well, I'd say 20% more tops. It's not that rare anymore. If you want scratch resistance, get a ceramic watch. I daily one and didn't manage to scratch it yet even though it gets beaten up a lot.

Generally to most people titanium looks worse.
It's darker, oxidizes, and doesn't have any tangible durability improvements.
If they ever re-release the tungsten cases at least there will be a good reason to buy it, since it would be more durable.

Got it for 10 euros on Temu. I loved the name and the advertisement. A friend and I laughed non stop for a couple of minutes and I decided to buy one. I mean, it even says Professional on it.
I went on a couple of dates with a girl and visited her at her work (Nike Clothing Store), but nothing serious happened.
They are easy to talk to, at least in tokyo, but you never know if they are just being polite (tatemae) or being true. It's sadly their culture to be as non-direct as possible. It takes some getting used to their unique Autism.

they make some pretty nice dress watches; movements are well finished (get a display caseback) and are made in-house (pretty sure they are based on ETA movements unless you go for the high end world timers though) and have some nice aesthetics.Lug to lug length can be comical and you have to dig the overall look for it to be worth it. I saw a post in a different thread that I wanted to respond to but I can't find it

Either way, it said "there's no such thing as a watch that is too small"

I say that is 100% wrong, you absolutely can

My friend owns a rolex date (34mm) that on him looks like the smallest, puniest little thing. Seeing it actively made rolex less enticing as a brand to me since it looked so small and unimpressive on him. Now how small that threshold is depends on the person. If it's a big dude, a 34mm watch will NOT look good. Likely the same for a 36mm. For a tiny dude like pic related, you can rock pretty much any size watch, even a woman's watch like he's doing.

Either way, don't go around telling people that there's no such thing as too small, it's just as dumb as saying there's no such thing as too big

Times change but it did always seem weird that for men a dress watch is something thats pretty simple and understated but for women dress jewelry is more the opposite. Pocket watches will make a comeback as formal dress watches in the next few years. Smart phones made the concept of "pocket tools" popular again, the preference for bigger sized and more extravagant looking watches shows that people want their watches to be noticed. With pocket watches they can achieve exactly that without looking "low class". The quality of even upper-mid range pieces costing a few hundred dollars is superior to anything found today outside the sub-10k non-haute horlogerie segment like decorated in-house movements with screw-on gold chatons, blued screws, swan neck regulators, enamel dials, hand decorated precious metal cases. They are rare and exclusive assets compared to modern mass produced wrist watches. Buy a pocket watch before their prices skyrocket.

>men’s fashion being closely tied to the military uniform. Serious, sober
I never thought of this but that makes a ton of sense. Even just the term 'sharp' being used for a well dressed man should have made this evident.

>>17978128
I never really saw the point outside of the amusement factor of pulling one out and popping the cover open. Is a pocket watch really a higher quality piece than a similar priced wrist watch? That doesnt make sense.

>> No.17978147

>>17978128
I don't see it happening only because wearing and using a pocket watch is such a pain in the ass. That's the entire reason men's wristwatches took off, originally wristwatches were for women with little to no pocket space to keep a watch, but as soon as men gave it a chance and realized just looking at your wrist was a shitload easier than digging around in your pockets, opening a cover, and then putting it back while you're trying to watch the field over the edge of a trench the wristwatch took off.

Not only that but your phone os already a device you pull out of your pocket to tell the time. Why would you need two timepieces that have to sit in your pockets? It doesn't make sense.

The earliest, yes, because the pioneers of flight literally were not in the air long enough to pull out their pocket watch to time their flight. The everyman saw the benefits fighting in ww1 and ww2. They literally welded lugs onto pocket watches in ww1 to turn them into wristwatches because pocket watches in the trenches sucked donkey dick.

I have one(1) watch and it’s a 44 which looks slightly too big
im thinking 40mm is a strong contender for the title but why is it co-mentioned with muslim holy man in general post?

The Constellation isn’t unpopular at all. Enthusiasts just don’t care for it. It’s fairly popular among normies looking for a Datejust-style “normal” watch. It’s also hugely popular in East Asia.
I read once that of Omega spun off Constellation as its own brand it would be bigger than Omega.

>The 1970's. The Swiss watch industry is on the defensive after the significantly cheaper and technologically more advanced Japanese watches revealed the horology scam they'd been running for centuries.
>Unable to compete with their Japanese rivals in a fair fight, the Swiss cook up a devious plot to sell their most gaudy subpar shitters to unsuspecting customers under the most stereo-typically Japanese sounding name they can come up with. "Sakata" [rice paddy].
>But that is not enough. To satisfy their pettiness and to further the slight, they designate the run-of-the mill 17 jewels shitter movement the "Hiroshimatic", alluding to the city where the first Atomic bomb claiming 140,000 lives was deployed.
>Despite the fact that the Sakata Hiroshimatic is a non-automatic, hand-winding watch.

Do you guys know perhaps any microbrands who make a watch like this?

Black pvd case prefered but not necessary. Black/white high contrast dial and most importantly the bezel should be glossy.

A glossy bezel is the catch there. You're prob not going to find that beyond that Swatch

Tudor has some good PVD black watches with white contrast but has all-metal casing so it's not glossy. you could probably buy a ceramic insert Sub and had it custom-PVD coated yourself

then again - who knows what concoctions the micro-est of microbrands have. Just buy the swatch
