Thanks, the explosive cope the post generated tells me that around $200k is enough for a $8k watch to not seem ridiculous. I’m sort of conscientious about buying inappropriately expensive things so I’m overthinking it. My friend has a brand new S class he can barely afford and it just seems so inappropriate for someone young and not exactly rich. It's not hate so much as it's exasperation. No, they're worn down by the constant begging and jealously. They're frustrated by having to wear this mask and pretend like the rich and the poor are somehow peers.

To be fair, this was never actually made to be worn. It's a collector's item, a recreation of some thing they (may have) made in the 1960s for the Egyptian navy. It the same reason that Panerai also re-issued the diving compass they made in WW2.

All Panerais are big, blocky, brutal things, which is their whole aesthetic. The company does a lot more wrong than it does right, but they did stumble onto at least one cool design.

yes, but it's not very sensible when you think about it from a financial and practical viewpoint. if you're an actual poorfag, doing that ties up a substantial portion of your assets into a watch, that you're then supposed carry around on your wrist. it's risky to concentrate your wealth like that into an everyday object you use.

>BitterAnon is obsessed with him for some reason.

This started a couple weeks ago. The thread was having a side discussion on fountain pens. Reverso Anon and Mortadello are penfags. Someone asked anon a question about avatarfagging and one of the anons replied that he disapproved of it but didn't care one way or the other if others wanted to. Then another anon immediately recognized him as Reverso Anon.

Fast forward to when Whoretadello was having his running ban evasion battle with the jannies for posting NSFW pictures of girls. Bitter Anon decided that Reverso Anon is somehow making the jannies ban Whoretadello. Even though Reverso Anon was always polite to Whoretadello and willing to help him research Credor models.
Just because Reverso Anon said he didn't approve of avatarfagging, that's all it took for Bitter Anon to become completely fixated.

Fuck, I am in these threads too much.

Happy New Year to all of you! Peace, happiness, and good health for 2024, and I hope you all achieve your horological desires!

I wish to thank each of you for being you, because each of you is special, with a unique voice and an interesting perspective. Take some time today to think of those whom you love and those who have loved you, and especially those who are no longer with us.

Because the AD called me for an Explorer first. I’m getting 2 matching DJs next, God willing. A 31 for my wife and a 36 for me. The Explorer is not a cope watch in the slightest, its a well fitting everyday casual watch. It fits that role much better than my submariner. Nice. My father gifted me his GMT when he retired. Here it is with mine. (Frankly, I like his better. You don't realize really how bad nu-Rolex looks until its compared side-by-side to classic Rolex.)

You should still get the Ferrari anyway. 308 prices are still pretty reasonable but they've been trending up in a big way. I'm kicking myself for not getting one when they were only about 30k but I was a dumb kid and just thought they looked like ugly 80s cars.
