I'm teaching myself watch servicing, at a very basic level. Just cleaning the movements and re-oiling them. Quick question - how should I clean the balance wheel assembly?

With the movement parts I am just letting them sit in hexane for a few minutes as it seems to be a very gentle oil dissolver that leaves no residue and does not damage Shellac, then giving them a brush with a sable brush. Then giving the parts a dunk in 3 different solutions of ipa to rise off any excess water or hexane (not the balance wheel or pallet fork) then a quick gentle blast under hair dryer to remove all ipa

I'm still a little confused on how to clean the balance wheel assembly, should I be removing the capstones and then letting the capstones + capstone locking metal + balance wheel bridge + balance wheel just sit in hexane for a few mins without any brushing, and without any ipa?

But ever since they reissued the Q I really like the direction they're going. Their reissue stuff is interesting and their new mechanicals and automatics aren't horrible. There's a lot of things they could improve on but I think they're going in a great direction and they have made some really nice looking pieces. I say nice looking because their movements aren't the best. Especially for their mechanicals/autos. best case is a japanese miyota and worse case is a seagull shitter. I think they have some with swiss movements but I don't recall.

I think the marlin reissue and the q are worth picking up. Especially on sale.
