What colours are kino or cringe ? This is casual. Not under a suit.

You'll need to be a lot more specific; it mostly depends on your skin tone, what other colors you're wearing, etc. Main exceptions are plain white and black, which there's no real reason to wear outside of a uniform.

True, I just said black and white since he said not under a suit (although you're still right since there are plenty of jackets that aren't a part of a suit).

A plain white Oxford, and in particular especially a blue and white striped Oxford (pic rel) are worth purchasing imo. Can dress them up or down, wear them under jumpers in the winter. Pretty versatile and cheaper variants are available because the style is so ubiquitous

You are retarded, they are THE go to fashion staples
You should NEVER wear a cranberry colored button up or a turquoise one

Various shades of blue grey and white. Navy black and earth tones can be fine but are harder. Nothing else imo.

I like the checked Ralph Lauren polo button-downs w the colored embroidery on the breast
>looks good open or closed
>color dye used in the checks is very vibrant/"hot" >white field underneath softens the impression it makes on the eye.

this kind of person

He said casual and not under a suit, so I assumed he was just looking for basic recommendations that would look good in a business casual setting. If you wear just a plain black or white button down with the rest of the outfit being typical business casual shit like slacks and derbies, it is likely you will look like a waiter if you aren't careful about the other colors. As I said in my original reply though, these are just very general recommendations, since the OP gave very few specifics. Of course you can dress a plain black or white button down well without a jacket if you're not an idiot, e.g. with fabric choice as mentioned by others in the thread.

Light blue is a winner if it has a button down collar. Small collars usually look like shit. Look into Kamakura and Proper Cloth. Get one from Uniqlo first, not the slim fit one.

Kind of unrelated but are big folds at the sleeves a big deal? I'm short so every shirt has sleeves that are 2-3 inches too long for my arms. I don't know if I should do anything about it or if it's fine.

Well, if you're buying dress shirts, you can buy your exact sleeve length. If they're just sized like M, L, XL, etc. then get them tailored when you buy them.
